- Avoid Scrapyards like the plague if you have AI-controlled salvage ships. Sending your ship into one and salvaging w/o a license can turn your ally into hostile within 5 seconds.
- Map your toggle systems to the numpad to get an edge when running away from enemies.
When running in a straight line you don't need your thrusters and inertia dampeners which consume a chunk of energy production by default.
Disabling those when idle and waiting for the hyperspace drive to recharge also helps preserve battery and you can disable hyperspace drive to run away if pirates suddenly jump you while you're charging it.
