Description
This mod add new promotions choices when leveling your units and also change the promotion tree system to improve customization possibilities.

It roughly triple your promotion choices for every unit, adding many new promotions, and rearranging dependencies on existing ones.



Features:
  • Expands the promotion system with roughly 3 times the number of promotion available in vanilla for each unit.
  • Changes the tree system for easier browsing and promotion planning. (See Screenshots for visual support)


    The state of 'promotions' in Vanilla:
  • Every unit has 2 choice of 'basic promotion' based on terrain type or domain.
  • To these basic skill is attached a skill tree who expand as you level one of the base skill.
    For example: Drill I - Drill II - Drill III OR Shock I - Shock II - Shock III , would open the rest of the vanilla skill.

    Changes with the mod:
  • There is now a 'Promotion Level' concept. A new generic skill with 3 level has been assigned to every unit. This skill is the 'Unlocker' of higher level promotion.
  • All the 'basic promotion' has been converted into 'Level 1 promotions', All former Vanilla Promotion have been distributed in different Promotion level and many custom promotions were added and distributed as well.
    Now, every time you level you can buy a promotion of the skill level youre at, or you can buy the Unlocker to raise your promotion level and expand your promotion list choices.
    So, available for your first level up is: the unlocker and the former 2 'Basic promotion' of the unit (you start at promotion level 1).
  • The unlocker skill is a generic, useful to all unit, promotion that slightly increase attack and def (stackable) and raise your %EXP GAIN, making leveling a little less exponential in term of cost and allow a more interesting end game play.
  • The Air system was left untouched for balance reasons.

Notes:
  • Remember when you level, you can Change the name of the unit (edit button right beside 'Promotion').
    So with a 'custom build' from a tree to choose from and named units you can start RolePlaying in CIV5 !

  • Supports English, Russian and Italian language, Thank to Ixa1999 for Italian translation and to Maxyzzz940 for Russian translation.

  • Compatible with Brave New World Expansion

Troubleshooting:

  • If you have a problem with a mod, the first step is always to test the mod alone before reporting any bugs.
  • All mods from all my collections are compatible together.
  • If you have troubles downloading the mod in game, it's a common cache issue, follow these steps to fix it:
    1) Unsubscribe The mod, exit steam and civ 5 completly
    2) empty your mod folder : C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
    3) Delete the 'Civ5ModsDatabase.db'file located at: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache
    Restart steam, subscribe, restart civ 5.

it (mostly) works with Vox Populi, the bugs i assume are related to the optional UI mod promotion tree (4a) which i disabled because of what people said here so i don't know about that, either way, the promotions from Vox Populi are unfortunately not affected by this mod so for the double shot from archers for instance you need to go the regular way (3 barrage? first)

Are there any plans to make this compatible with vox populi/the community patch promotion tree? I'm experiencing some bugs, if there's interest in making these compatible (which I think would be awesome) I can provide specifics (and might be able to help out with dev and testing if needed as well).

Unfortunatly i am a solo player so i never had to make mods work in multiplayer, i know its doable but havent researched or tried it. So i dont have altered file like you wanted, sorry.

Hello BlouBlou I love your work, I play lots of Civ V Multiplayer With my dad and we don't hotseat so I have been editing the game files so that we can play internet games with the changes our favorite mods change, for example the barbarian EXP unlimited. recently I have changed other files to the live game and they have gone really well and have enhanced our gaming. the reason I comment is that I really love this promotions mod and it seems to be all XML file changes which are the ones I am comfortable changing and I was wondering if you ever did something similar where you updated your live game files so you can play with some of your mods in a live game or in multiplayer and if so if you had a copy of the files you changed for the promotions because while I love this mod as it adds a lot I am not comfortable going in and changing everything like that to make it work. If you have those files or any advice that would be so exceptionally appreciated and if not I still love your work!

Hi There !
The closest thing to a written list would be the mod file. You can look at the XML and extract the info you are looking for. This may be a little tedious depending on how you want it arranged.

You can also install the IGE mod (live game editor) make a unit of each type, give it max level like in the screenshots and list your promotion tree by hand from there.

Sorry that i dont have a spreadsheet or list that isnt part of the code for the mod.

Is there a list of the specific changes this mod makes to the promotions (added/rearranged), or the final promotion list if this is the only mod installed? I see the summary in the description but i want to make a spreadsheet

@Kaiser Hi there !
There may be few reasons why you have this behavior :

- Not having at least God and Kings expansion
- Mod incompatibility with another mod
- Starting or loading your game from the SinglePlayer menu instead of the Mod menu
- Changing your mod list and trying to load a Save Game that had a different mod list.

I assume you already used the mod with succes from what you tell me. So you must own G&K.

I can guarantee that all my mods are compatible togheter but from your mod list i see that some mods arent from me. There is a chance that one is incompatible (maybe ethnic unit if they change promotions of some units).

The best test is to start a fresh new game with only this mod enabled (or other mods from me) and start the new game from the MOD menu, not the single player menu. It will surely work. After that, if one of your other mod is incompatible, you will unfortunatly have to choose wich one you prefer.
