Guided Missiles (Beta Updated)

Description
This mod is very old and uses a legacy missile management system. All fixes are thus band aids which are forcefully held together and unstable. Consider using this Mod instead (much better targeting system, proper flares, nice targeting visuals and sound etc):

Enhanced Combat Systems - Missiles [0.7.5]




Fixed Guided Missiles Mod to be compatible with v01.169. This is NOT my mod as the original author is ZJ.

This current guided missile mod is a fixed version of:

Which is an earlier fixed but broken fix of a yet earlier version:

You ONLY need to add this Mod to the game as this is the fixed version. Adding the previous ones will result in unexpected errors and crashes.



How To Use

I have no idea of the proper usage as the original creator removed those crucial tutorial descriptions. You can try to dig out the guide from those 2 mods broken above.

All I know is there are 2 ways to lock-on to the target:

1) You use a Camera View or Control a Turret and aim at the target, then Right Click to lock on (Red message shows target is set). Then you use either "Longbow Cruise Missile Launcher", "Catapult Torpedo Launcher" or "Sidewinder Small Missile Launcher" to fire a guided missile at the locked target.

2) Using "Guided Missile Targeter Turret" or "Fixed Large Target Painter", you shoot a fast moving shot that when hit, will automatically guide the other missiles to the target. (??? not sure if it is all missiles or only guided missiles launched by the special launchers)



Crazy New Features

>> All guided missiles now use Proportional Navigation. It will attempt to lead the target.


>> Small Grid Sidewinder Missile Launcher can now be faced in any direction other than the front, but uses a reference block (e.g. Cockpit) to aim instead (this is for the cool vertical missile launch style). To do this, write the following to the Custom Data of the Sidewinder Missile Launcher:

AimBlock=<Name of Reference Block>

Example, if your cockpit is used for aiming and the name is Front Cockpit, then set the Custom Data as:

AimBlock=Front Cockpit

Note: If the Reference Block is a Turret, it will use the Turret's aiming instead.



Comment section is bugged at the moment. Regarding the new mod, it will have all the existing launchers with more or less the same stats, but models will be different.

To add on, I tried using this again recently, and everythings great, except the missile tracking. They went into a large ark and never hit the target

This was the best missile mod. Wish it worked. Everything is weapon core now. And if its not weapon core, its small grid only. Need my longbows back :(

I think Alyzius is either just writing his own or scrapping it, since the combat mod has kinda removed the need for this.

so what you are saying is you are gonna remake the mod? is the models gonne be the same size? still gonna have Catapult and Longbow missiles? this makes me really excited, love this mod

I'm really frustrated with the Keen internal codes. attempt at rewrite failed. this is going to be scraped and rebuilt from scratch with new launcher and missiles models, new codes.

it was fixed but was right before Sparks update. then it got broken somewhere again. impossible to "fix", so I have gone via the revamp route

@Miniputt I do believe it's being worked on.
Also, did you try using your missiles on a planet? Whenever I use them, they only work in planetary gravity for some reason.
