Scarce Resources

Beschreibung
This mod increases the difficulty of the survival aspects of the game by spreading out the ore to different planet and moons. This also creates a reason for players to visit each planet.

Uranium is unique to the Alien planet, which means the players has to rely on other power sources in the early game.

The purpose of this mod is to create a path of progression in the game. Get to orbit for silver (for medbays), get to the moon for gold (to build jump drive), then the other planets for uranium and platinum. You will also need to haul ice or hydrogen into space to refuel your ships, until you get platinum.

The ore is distributed as follows:

Asteroids: Iron, Silver

All planets and moons have the basic ores; Iron, Nickel, Silicon and Ice, plus the additional rarer ores mentioned below:

Moons: Silver, Gold
Earth: Cobalt, Magnesium (rare)
Mars: Platinum
Alien: Uranium
Triton: Magnesium
Pertam: Cobalt (canyons, see the picture of a map in the description of this mod), Magnesium (on cracked soil), Silver (rare), Gold (rare)

Magnesium can also be found in surface rocks on Earth, so that early defense is possible.
32% of rocks in Desert biome
12% of rocks in Forest biome
0% of rocks in Snow biome

There is a small chance to find thin Magnesium veins on Earth at depths greater than 100 meters.

RECOMMENDED START
Players should start on Earth for this mod to work the best, since Cobalt is easily available there. Get to space for silver and then fly to the moon for gold to build a jump drive.

ALTERNATIVE START
Players who want a more difficult challenge can also start on Pertam. Reasources are more spread out to different regions, forcing the players to travel around to collect the resources needed to escape the planet.

FINDING THE WRONG ORES
If you have issues with ores appearing that should not be there, maybe you are using another mod which alters the same files and overwrites the changes of this mod. To solve this, move this mod to the top if you are in a local world, or to the bottom on a dedicated server.

NO GOLD ON THE MOON
If you have trouble finding any gold on the moon then you are probably not using a large ore detector. Gold usually spawns deeper than 100 m so it cannot be detected by the hand drill or small ore detector. Also make sure that you set the ore detector to its maximum range, and that you move it close to the ore patch.

SHIP TRADING
This mod disables ship trading from NPC stations. If ship trading is enabled it is easy to obtain Platinum and Uranium early on, eliminating the need to go to Mars and Alien planet. If you want ship trading enabled anyway, add the following mod which restores it https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1894288014

@NoseShot Sorry I didn't remember we fixed it. Darian is correct, meteors has been modified and should not contain silver or other scarce ores. Maybe your issue is due to mod load order. Meteors is in the asteroids definition file. Do you have any other mod that modify asteroids?
Darian Stephens  [Autor] 10. März um 1:42
Oh, really? Was that removed?
Chrido  [Autor] 9. März um 19:02
@NoseShot Meteors has not been modified and will contain the same materials as the vanilla game.

After having read through most of the comments, it seems as if meteors are still allowed to contain silver but no rare resources like platinum and uranium. What other resources are allowed to spawn in meteors?

I found silver in a meteor which crashed close to my base on earth. That should normally not be possible, right?

I used the mod with a brand new world.

i hope space engineers 2 has a system like this so it encourages exploration and i hope they add a endgame goal like a story to survival mode

This mod only affects vanilla planets, and asteroids.
It does this by overwriting the vanilla planet definition directly, so if anything changes them by, for example, changing the color of sunlight through the atmosphere, there's a good chance one will be overwriting the other's changes.
I'd recommend having this mod lower down in the load order to make sure its changes are applied.

Dude, what happens if I install a Mod that adds new planets, will your Mod also affect the generation of minerals on the new planets?

I thought I installed this mod as a ore detector, I searched the planet for cobalt for hours , I spent hours searching for uranium in asteroids. I scanned every part of the moon with a detector for platinum. Then I thought if there was a problem with my installed mods, it took me 42.5 hours to think about this . This was the first mod, when I read its content I realized where I made a mistake :D

It is my only essential mod, gives me an actual reason to visit the planets.
Currently setting up a gold refinery on the moon!
