Euro Truck Simulator 2

Ocen: 42
G27/G29/.. & more devices + Fanaleds = signals/alert display instead of RPM
Autorstwa: bUrnIt
Hi,
Here's how I managed to use my g27 wheel LEDS to display signals and other with FANALEDS.
Not a display of the RPMs telemetry. but still flashing the shift.
If you want rpm/rev/kers you can configure that instead of signal/alert.

How to
Maybe you disagree, follow the steps in order!
I've written the steps like so to make it work for me, and that means if I launch or plug things in a different order it would mess up.

Zero: Installing Fanaleds
  • Get and install the Fanaleds[www.fanaleds.com] prog
  • List of supported hardware (wheels, lcd dashboard): hardwaresupport[www.fanaleds.com]
  • (in the program menu FILE: open plugins folder) Be sure to put the 2 .dll needed in the right locations:
    SteamApps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2\bin\
    win_x64\plugins\ -for 64bit.
    win_x86\plugins\ -for 32bit.
You might need to create the "plugins" folder in each. And do this when ETS2 is not running.
  • Only then, start your game normaly (load your save). (have your wheel and stuff already installed).
  • Start Fanaleds also if you closed it (Check tray icons) :-).
  • Good now WE can start.

First: Know your truck! ... and engine and transmission... .. mmmeh..
    In Fanaleds, IMPORTANT:
  • (Once your save is loaded and you are in the driver seat) Check Fanaleds again and set your truck rpms setting (Advanced / car settings) it should have auto added the name of your current truck model.
You only need fill in "RPM shift" and "Final gear".
  • Be precise on the RPM shift (like 2150 max. for a MAN or average 1600-1750 for Volvo depends), and set the "Final gear" of your truck (6, 10, 12, 14, 16).
  • click SAVE to save the car settings you just added.

Second: Setting leds on your wheel A (Current Settings)
  • Go to Hardware / your device (me: Logitech G27 (G27)).
  • At the bottom leave the checkbox checked, and select in the list "Selected Revled style" -> Converging (nightmode) or Disabled Other modes aren't working for me not sure why but for sure we don't use rev.pm display anyway.

Third: Setting leds on your wheel B (LED Functions)
  • Remove any already-assigned options.
  • Set your options for each leds (multiple options can be used)

  • For upShift Flash: select in the list Upshift for all leds. That makes one usage.

  • For parking brake set handbrake (I put handbrake on the red5).

  • Headlights and High beam : I set yellow3 for both, and for Highbeam only I set yellow4 too.

  • Left and right blinks: put the 2 on the same leds of you choice like green1 for both or one per green led. (it blinks both sides on the wheel, no left or right separation).

  • Low Fuel on red5 + yellow4. (and set the setting (on the first panel) "Fuel flash" rate to about 250 (default) and "Fuel perc" to 75% (at 100% the leds blinks at the same time as the game alert).

Final:
  • Save your changes for the active game preset OF COURSE
  • You might need to restart the game and/or Fanaleds if it doesn't work after this setup.
  • From now on, you only need to run fanaleds(all config will be kept) after you have set your wheel and stuff (controllers) before launching the game. (and each time you use a new truck and or transmission/engines -> set it in car settings and save)
  • Keep the good vibes and make that truck bounce ! musicaly...

Enjoy ! have a nice ride.

Note (& TroubleShooting)
  • Left and Right LED rows are "bridged/mono", not "stereo". We can not seperate their triggers individualy.

  • If for any reason something is not working as it should: close/restart Fanaleds (check tray icons)

  • If your leds always flash: makes sure you set the truck RPMs (upSHIFT) and last gear + make sure you have removed any already-assigned options per leds (point 3). And makes sure you saved any changes and close/restart Fanaleds!

  • I've tried using the cruise control signal but it won't work.
Seems like the engine, stalled, low traction alert and others problem alerts are also not working. or i haven't had those problems to have the leds show it.

  • If fanaleds ets2 settings mess-up your leds for other games, you can reset the led assignement and fanaleds settings to default. (in one click, button)

    UPDATE:
    2021:
Seems to work for ATS too. but since 1.42 has brought some crashes we need to confirm this.

    2019:
  • List of supported hardware (wheels, lcd dashboard): hardwaresupport[www.fanaleds.com]
OLD(before 2019): Low Fuel alert do work but i saw it only too late, after you get the warning from the game (at least in my case I must have had it lower than 50%). So it can be used to make a second alert, like when you are very close to run out. you need to set the fuel perc option from the front panel of Fanaleds: 100% is the same time as the game alert, and under 50% it's very close to run out like: if you just passed a fuel station, it might be too late.

@bUrnit, Good show mate. I will have a go with it again, in a bit. I think I have finally reached a comfortable point at which to put ATS on the shelf for now. Going back to ETS2 shortly.

I also didnt mention: I have put the plugin for each 64bits and 32bits in their respective folder.

But once: I had problems and tried to put both in both folder :-) like as if ets2 didnt care what folder it was in... but today it's each plugin in their respective folder.

@Alcon for me ETS2 1.42 convoy or not the plugin works like a charm as it has all these years.

I don't want to mess up my saves with 1.42, because it "incompatiblized" ProMods in both games.
So I backtracked to 1.41 as soon as I found out. Point is, I never used Fanaleds in 1.42 yet.

Even though I didn't "play" with the 1.42 update yet, it still updated when it was announced, and then I reversed it. Maybe that bonked it. ==>Because I originally installed the Fanaleds plugins just before the update and reversal happened . I'll try reinstalling the plugins later.

Holy crash XD.. I tried 1.42 with some mods and crashed while trying to host a convoy(until i removed 1-2 mod). That's the only crash I had. was it playing ATS ? I have no Idea about why otherwise even for ATS.

OMG I just got it working and now the game locks up. Everything freezes the moment you enter the truck. I had to take the plugin out. Not sure why. Game works fine after removing the plugin. Any ideas?
