Dune Hopper | Jumping Vehicle (Jak 3)

No mods. Survival Friendly.


Description:

Straight from one of my favorite PS2 games, Jak 3, I give you the Dune Hopper. This is a fully functional jumping vehicle which doesn't use rotors or pistons. It is controlled via RC block, although I know this restricts the camera angle. A cockpit just didn't look right. All controls are displayed in front of the driver's seat. The rocket engine is JUST FOR LOOKS

In order to jump, you need to press 7 to compress the 'springs', wait for the vehicle to lower to the ground, and then press 8 to release them. Pressing 9 will return the vehicles suspension back to normal as it will be rigid after the jump. There is a gyro so you can orientate the vehicle while in the air.

It jumps high enough to clear most gorges and easily over the 6-large-block-tall walls of the Castellum Stronghold Base as shown in the pictures.


How It Works:
The jumping action is accomplished by manipulating the wheel strength settings. I have set up a number of timer blocks which will quickly increase the wheel strength from 0 to 40, which causes it to leap.
