ETS2 Display / Graphics Settings Guide
General Notes

With all of those beautiful Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2) screencaps floating around, it's understandable as to why many gamers see them, think their rig could never run the game, and move on. That's a shame, because ETS2 can run on some pretty low-end machines. My current system is quite dated and yet I can run this on medium setting fairly well. Lag increases in cities of course (particularly in daylight hours, when traffic is heavier), but it's still manageable. My specs are at the bottom of this guide for the purpose of comparison. (Additonally, there is a demo available on the Steam store page, so why not try for yourself?)

To help aid people who haven't yet tried ETS2, this guide shows a side-by-side comparison of the different pre-set graphics modes available in the game. Please note that ETS2 also features a robust Advanced Graphics settings screen, where you can adjust everything from gamma to sunshafts to pedestrians, so it's a simple matter to start with the most stable setting and tweak things from there.

I hope this proves useful to someone. Feel free to leave comments, criticisms, and suggestions below. Cheers!

@Mudrat59: I think the garage shots are higher def vanity shots. Mine have never been the same quality on the road either. As my system specs are pretty low (to the gree that some people apparently think I'm trolling), I can't say if that gets more consistent with a better rmachine. Maybe someone with high end gear come offer their thoughts.

Hi Guys, just a little help needed.?? In the garage the chrome Grill and smoke stacks on my truck look great, nice and shiney, like chrome does. But when in game mode on the road it looks more like white / blueish than chrome, even when I go to a garage to do a service it looks good but park outside and it looks white again. Is it something in my graphic settings i need to change or is there a good Mod someone can recommend that will improve the look when im driving down the Hiway.??? Thanks for your help.

I haven't done an actual framerate check, but does the word "ViewMaster" mean anything to you? :D

That is a good idea though; I'll have to add comparative framerates. Thanks!

If you're being honest about your specs I'd love to know what your framerate is on those two Ultra screenshots...

Nice thanks.
