Pervitin - Panzerschokolade

描述
PERVITIN:
A stimulant known as Speed today, was the Wehrmacht's wonder-drug.
Methamphetamine is a strong central nervous system (CNS) stimulant that is mainly used as a recreational drug. Common slang terms for methamphetamine include: speed, meth, crystal, crystal meth, glass, shards, ice, tic and in New Zealand, "P".

During World War II, Pervitin (methamphetamine) developed by Berlin-based Temmler pharmaceutical company was used extensively by all branches of the German armed forces (Luftwaffe pilots, in particular) for its performance enhancing stimulant effects and to induce extended wakefulness.

Pervitin became colloquially known among the German troops as:
- "Tank-Chocolates" (Panzerschokolade)
- "Stuka-Tablets" (Stuka-Tabletten)
- "Herman-Göring-Pills" (Hermann-Göring-Pillen).

It also gave the soldiers a long-lasting feeling of euphoria and invincibility.

Aside from the Panzerkrieg, it is one of the main reasons the German army was able to roll through France so quickly and surprisedly.

None of the allied planners had factored in the massive and pervasive use of meth by all German forces and consequently were totally unprepared for their rapid and nonstop (for days at a time) onslaught.

According to their tested plans and manoeuvres, normal enemy soldiers could not sustain more than a couple of days or so of continued offensive action without sleep or rest.

They did not realise that the enemy soldiers were not some sort of Uber soldiers; they were just all nonstop cranked up on meth.
