Role

The Vendetta is designed the for two roles: the first and primary role is destroying other super capital ships and space stations.

The secondary role is acting as the center of battle groups, supplying and commanding a smaller ships like Frigates and Cruisers.
This is especially important for smaller battle groups that do not contain even larger ships, like Dreadnaughts or Super Carriers.

Despite its massive firepower, the Vendetta was not meant to ever operate alone, as it can be outflanked by smaller ships like corvettes, frigates and even some of more the more nimble cruiser classes.

Primary weapon:Gatling projector Grav Cannon

A deadly and fast weapon, able to fire a shell about every 5 seconds, continuously. Every shell can penetrate 5 blocks deep into a heavy armor block, totally ignoring grav shields.

This weapon combines the advantages of modern welder/projector/merge block grav guns with the long obsolete concept of ammo rotors. 4 shells are projected onto a huge rotor at all time - they cover the rotor positions 0°,90°,180° and 270°. Only the torpedo that is currently located at the top is ever fired.
After every shot, the rotor is advanced by exactly 90°, so the next shell can be fired.
While the topmost shell is fired, the 3 welding stations have time to build the other 3 shells. An additional welding station is responsible for finishing the topmost shell, in case it arrives in a incomplete state.

A programmable block determines "which way is up", eleminating the possibilty to fire the wrong shell. It also prevents firing of the gun while the rotor is still turning.
Another programmable block permanently monitors the status of the gun, deleviering the info to a series of lcd panels and also changing the color of some status light mounted on the outside of the guns barrel. It is also responsible for handling the autofire mode. When autofire is activated, the gun fires as fast as possible without further human intervention.

Because the rotor proved to be too slow thanks to its huge weight, it was speed up by a "Gravity Mill Effect": this resembles a oldfashioned water mill. Like a water mill is propelled by water pushing one half of its wheel, the Gatlings Rotor is speed up by gravity affecting only on half of the mass blocks mounted on the rotor.
The rotors rapid movement causes the entire ship to move a few meters to the right while turning the rotor, basically a "reload recoil".
The recoil can be easily countered via the ships interial dampeneres and any half skilled pilot, so it was not considered to be a real problem.

Usage:

To use manual / single shot fire, press 1 in the gunners console.
To use autofire, press 2 in the gunners console.

Secondary weapons

The secondary weapons can't equal the raw firepower of the primary gun, they are only meant to fend off smaller, flanking opponents. They also proved useful for firing into

the huge gaps created by the primary gun, taking out the enemies internal systems.

Hangar

The Vendetta is a battle ship, not a carrier - but it still has a small hangar, containing 3 recon fighters. The Fighters primary role is scouting the perimeter for the

Vendetta and its escort ship. During combat they are mostly expected to stay out of the way of the Vendettas many anti fighter turrets, to avoid friendly fire accidents.

There are also 2 small welder ships for repairs after battle and even a tiny miner ship, which can grant the Vendetta and its escort ships some limited form of autonomy.

Bridge

The bridge is located at the rear of the ship, containing no windows. In this protected position the crew is likely to survive even the loss of the front 50% of the ship.
For the same reason, the bridge also contains its own oxygen generator.

The bridge neighbors the server room (containing the ships main computer cores), the captains quarter and the primary medbay. The entire bridge area is protected by 2 massive armored gates, which can be locked from inside in case of intruders on board or air loss.

Factory / Main reactor bay

The room located on the rear of the ship is dedicated to the main reactors and also contains a few assemblers and refineries, useful for producing new ammunition and spare parts.

Crew quarters

There are two crew quarters: the first one, located at the middle of the ship, is for the regular crew of the Vendetta. The second one, located behind the hangar, is used by the pilots of the recon fighters and 2 additional engineers, who are responsible for manning the utility ships and for keeping the fighters operable.
The captain also has his own, relativly spacious quarter next to the bridge.

Known Bugs

In rare cases torpedoes get stuck inside of the torpedo chamber, refusing to turn on the mass block. As a workaround if this happens: delete the torpedo, then run the "turn 90" program block once.

Notes
- Full Conveyor network
- Oxygen (except for the torpedo chamber which is not even meant to be pressurized)
- Thruster damage compatible
- Survival compatible grav gun. If you want to use it in survival, turn on ALL welders - I don't by default, cause to many active welders in the world causes performance problems and in creative you don't need all of them.

grav gun doesn't work, and I'm sure it's because of a newer version of the game. Every single script says it can't run because it doesn't recognize a certain phrase. I have no idea how to fix this, but I'm hoping you do?

Okay, after third try ship started to act like a ship. But gravity gun is buggy as hell :( Every third bullet is fired, and every second fired bullet doesn't hit the walls (All fired with 0m/s and no ship rotating). ...So every fith bullet is fired properly. Anyway the idea of the ship is great, looking forward to see bugfixes.

I've got a problem firing Gravity Gun. It's showing error, that rotors aren't in safe position and it refuses to fire. And ship is constantly "rotating" with 0.1m/s (with interia dampeners turned on) and I don't know if I should be considered about it or it's just normal thing. Everything is happening on VANILLA world downloaded I haven't even moved ship like 1 inch before i realized these problems. Any clues on how to fix this? Cause ship itself is intimidating and it could be nice to have one in my fleet.

The grav gun really works in multiplayer? Very cool, haven't even tried that yet.

And I agree that the interior is really spartan. I'm not good at doing vanilla interiors anymore, I was spoilt by mods like Eikesters Decoration Pack that contains loads of furniture. Thats why I saved most of the interior decoration for the modded version of the Vendetta.

While this ships interior is relatively spartan, the grav gun really makes this ship. Hands down one of the best functioning grav guns I have seen. It actually works in multiplayer and very easy to use. Would love to see what else you can do with various launch systems.

Nice ship! It looks like one of the best I've seen recently. Thanks for making it.
