Description
Play as the preserver of the modern Arab world, Hussein bin Talal; in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.

Jordan is an ancient land where goods of Arabia and the Indian Ocean flowed into the Mediterranean. Ancient Canaanites and Saracens (Arabs) -- the Shasu, Hyksos, and Nabataeans -- lived in this craggy land around the River Jordan where they excelled at degensive warfare and monolithic construction. It was very late into the Nabataean Kingdom's existence when the Romans absorbed it thus allowing Hellenism to fuse with ancient Arab cosmology and geometry-based religious customs. The deluge of Islam ensured both Jordan and Palestine would be colonised by Peninsular Arabs, a trend of Bedouin migration would endure until the First World War which saw Britain enable Hashemite rule in both the Transjordan and Iraq. The 20th century has not been kind to regal Jordan, though the omnipresent threat of republicanism (both Palestinian and Jordanian), socialism (i.e., Nasserism and Ba'athism), and radical Islam has yet to break the Hashemites's last sovereign citdael.
