PEPCO Mining Aid (MAID)

Description

A small mod to help me deal with my love of keeping things neat and orderly. This mod allows the creation of visual aids (red lines) that you can control via chat commands.
I use the visual aids to drill straighter and more level / accurate tunnels.



The commands:
        
  • /maid off
    > turns the visual aids off

  • /maid help
    > opens this page in the steam overlay - great for looking up the commands

  • /maid d [distance in m] [optional: slope in degrees]
    > paints a visual aid from your viewpoint using the distance and slope

  • /maid h2p [GPS / waypoint]
    > paints a visual aid from your viewpoint to the provided GPS coordinate

  • /maid p2p [GPS / waypoint] [GPS / waypoint]
    > paints a visual aid between the provided GPS coordinates

0 degrees is level with the horizontal plane (perpendicular to gravity)

All command parameters have to be separated by a white space “ “. Make sure to not use those in GPS names.

Example:
/maid d 100 -10
creates a 100 meter long visual aid starting from your camera towards your sightline sloped -10 degrees from the horizontal plane

Visual aids do not persist and are lost on reload or closure of the game.



If there is enough interest, I will create a GUI that allows to
        
  • do all the above
  • select color and intensity of the visual aid
  • use a history to repeat commands

I've tried this but seem to be missing something. I want to do a guide line from my location to a specific gps location that's about 50 meters away. I've been trying different iterations of /maid h2p gpsname, /maid h2p GPS: name. Seems like no matter what I choose all I get is "invalid command" for the /maid command. What am I doing wrong?

@bobblehead Glad you like the mod. When you type /maid help (or any other not supported command for that matter :D) you are redirected to the this page using the steam overlay. I find this to be a neater solution for showing the commands than the in-game chat.
I'd love to know what you think once you gave it a try,

Nice useful tool. Would you mind adding one thing (unless I've missed it because, well - me), could you add a "help" command that lists out the other commands? I ask as I have a very bad memory and have to continuously look up the commands here. Yes I'm old, like antique old. Sorry and thank you for this fine tool.

I routinely do things that require me to guess lines.
