Dombie's Trait Balance Changes

Description
News: Updated to 1.6 with no notable issues seen.


These are my changes to the traits of Rimworld. Most of these changes are to remove frustrating aspects while also nerfing overtuned traits.


These are my changes, TLTR Edition:

Nimble now has -25% Aiming Delay in addition to their dodge chance increase.

Body Purist + Teetotaler:
+20% Psychic Sensitivity
+25% Meditation Psyfocus Gain
+25% Neural Heat Recovery
In addition to the trait's normal effects.

Wimps won't have Murderous or Sadistic Rage Breaks.

Fast Learner: +50% Learning Speed ---> +25% Learning Speed

Slow Learner: -75% Learning Speed ---> -25% Learning Speed

Tough: 50% Reduced damage ---> 25% Reduced damage and pain + 50% Wound Healing Speed and 15% Immunity gain speed

Pyromaniacs no longer have random fire sprees and can put out fires. They will only have fire sprees instead of other breaks.

Trigger-Happy: -5 Accuracy ---> -15 Accuracy

Careful Shooter: +5 Accuracy ---> +15 Accuracy

Gourmand: No more random eating sprees and no increased hunger rate. They will only have eating sprees as mental breaks.

Lazy pawns need 25% less sleep.

Slothful pawns need 50% less sleep.

Slowpoke: -0.2 -> -0.4 Movement Speed

Fast Walker: +0.2 -> +0.4 Movement Speed

Jogger: +0.4 -> +0.8 Movement Speed



These are my changes and explanation for said changes:
-Nimble has been buffed. Outside of melee pawns or meat shields, this trait lacked the versatility of other traits. Now, it provides a big boost to aiming time to match the trait's agile description; Aiming time is reduced by 25% in addition to Nimble's normal effects.

-Body Purist now grants 20% Psychic sensitivity, 25% Meditation Psyfocus Gain, and 25% Neural Heat recovery. Monks, essentially.

-Teetotaler is given the same bonuses as Body Purists.

-Wimps are now more cowardly, albiet to a positive degree for a change. They now won't mentally bring themselves to murder other colonists. But let's be honest, this trait needed a small buff.

-Fast Learner now only gives 25% increased learning rate.

-Slow Learners only have 25% reduced learning rate.

-Tough now only receive 25% less damage. Pain has been reduced by 25%. Lastly, Tough pawns are more likely to survive infections and will heal 50% faster. This change was made to have a more versatile pawn that wasn't either a meat shield or god-like compared to their opponents.

-Pyromaniacs are now sick and tired of being turned into human meat pies. They will not go on random fire sprees. They will now put out fires, assuming they don't have this work disabled by the pyromaniac backstory. They will still go on fire sprees when unhappy. At least they won't go murdering your animals!

-Trigger-Happy pawns now have 15 reduced accuracy.

-Careful-Shooter pawns now have 15 increased accuracy.

-Gourmands, like pyromaniacs, are sick and tired of being turned into human meat pies. They now don't go on random eating sprees and will not eat 50% more food than the rest of your colonists. When sad, they will still go straight to your food storage rather than other mental breaks.

-Lazy pawns now sleep 25% better than other pawns.

-Slothful pawns now sleep 50% better than other pawns.


New Changes:
-The movement speed traits have had their effects doubled to create not only a more noticeable difference between pawns but also bring them in line with the other powerful traits.

Slowpoke: -0.2 -> -0.4

Fast Walker: +0.2 -> +0.4

Jogger: +0.4 -> +0.8

Apparently, Teetotalers don't mind if they take drugs that they are genetically dependent on. They could still end up as strong psycasters with go-juice. Although, come to think of it, that is sort of ironic XD

Cool. Though I think the Teetotaler changes are useless unless you're doing a monk rp. Maybe it could just give a general stat buff because "the persons body wasn't ever damaged by drug use so they're stronger" or "they were forced to push themselves harder due to being unable to cheat the system with performance enhancing drugs" or something like that

I didn't like the change, myself. It should be a more versatile trait, now.

I'm not completely sold on the Nimble change, since 'Trap Spring Chance' alone is pretty useless in most circumstances. I like the mod as a whole, though, especially making Tough less god-like and gourmand & pyromaniac less awful.

I can't adjust bleeding rate directly, but I can give Tough pawns inherent armor rating. In order to compensate for the damage they are likely to take, I've decided to buff their healing rate and immunity gain speed, which helps the play-style that the trait is likely to encourage.
