Description

TLDR: This mod scans your installed mods and suggest working/more updated replacements for those mods

Continuations of mods has many names and has become an large part of the RimWorld modding community.
It can be hard to keep track of when mods gets a new version by another modder. This mod tries to remedy that by keeping track and informing about when a mod has a replacement version on the workshop.

Data from my own collection of continued mods is a large part of this mod. Another large part is from my friends continuations; the collection by Zaljerem and the collection by velcroboy333.
The mod also uses info about mods that have been requested on my Discord server and continued by another modder as well as any mod published on the workshop using the usual suffixes for continued mods (as seen in the preview image).

This mod should work well together with my Show Mod Updates to make it easier to keep track of you favorite mods during those major RimWorld updates!

The replacement-rules is updated regularly to include new releases and the mod will download the latest version of the rules as soon as they get published. I hope this will be of use and if you have info about a mod-continuation not showing up in the mod or a faulty replacement suggestion, please report it in the comments or on the linked Discord-server.

Mod-options
  • Always show replacement button, event with no replacements
  • Show all possible replacements or only for active mods
  • Show all replacement-versions or only for the currently installed RimWorld version
  • Verbose logging for debugging
  • Replacement-button also in the mod-options for those with a custom gui-theme

Since modding is just a hobby for me I expect no donations to keep modding. If you still want to show your support you can gift me anything from my Wishlist or buy me a cup of tea.

Ah, gotcha! Thank you!

@Auranim Nothing needs to be done by users of the mod, it was just information for those that may have gotten used to the mod being updated every day.

@Mlie, it's not clear (to me, at least), if I need to do anything. Do I need to download anything externally? Will it do it automatically?

Change in mod-updates

This mod had its rules defined as separate xml-files for each replacement.

As the amount of rules now is above 2000 and requires daily updates, this has started to cause issues. Partly due to the relative slowness of reading thousands of files to generate the rule-set, but also having to republish the mod each day.

As steam can take a while to update mods, some users may get old definitions and would have to resubscribe to the mod to force steam to download the latest version.

That is why I now instead store all rules in one json-file that gets downloaded by the mod if there is a new version published. The file will be distributed via Cloudflare with a backup using Github.

Hopefully this will make it easier to keep the rules updated for all users!

@Lunasulpix_TTV That is a problem with steam, I know of no way of triggering a redownload while the mod is active

If possible it would be really nice to add a way for the mod to reinstall itself whenever there's updates cuz I seem to have to always force update it by uninstalling and reinstalling it when it's telling me it's out of date
