RimThunder Interiors Patch

Description
Description

This patch adds interiors to certain RimThunder vehicles, using the Movable RV w/ Interior! framework - check out that mod's page for more details.
In short: each vehicle carries its own pocket dimension, functioning as a small, separate map. Potential use cases include:
  • Mobile habitation, production or medical facilities
  • Armored or flying ambulances, able to evacuate casualties and provide medical care along the way
  • Expanded caravan gameplay, with pawns able to keep doing things inside the vehicle
  • Just generally being really cool and immersive
Balance Advice

This patch adds an extremely powerful capability to what are already some of the strongest vehicles on the workshop (with the basic concept of vehicles already being a major balancing shift). Suffice to say, if exploited to its fullest extent, this mod (and, to a slightly lesser extent, the broader interiors framework) would be absolutely game-breaking.

Thus, in my own playthrough, I follow a set of rules to keep things more reasonable - I generally dislike self-imposing limitations like this, but it's the price we pay for adding massive new features to a decade-old game. I would advise anyone intending to use this mod to adopt similar principles, or to carefully consider what they feel would be reasonable for their game.

1) Self-enforce size limits for vehicle interiors. All of the interiors added by this patch, except for the C-130, are 7x7 - this is due to technical limitations, and I've included suggested sizes for each vehicle's interior in the vehicles list. Use walls to shrink the vehicle's interior down to the appropriate size - either building them normally or placing them in godmode should be fine (hint: build them out of silver to match colors with the outermost walls).

2) Limit how much cargo will be carried by a vehicle with an initialized interior. Some extra fuel, rations or ammo can easily be handwaved, but it strains credulity to cram both a small field hospital and three tons of steel into the same truck's cargo bed.

3) Be highly conservative when storing cargo inside the actual interior of a vehicle - it doesn't actually add weight to the vehicle, so it can very quickly get out of hand, especially when using mods like OgreStack or Increased Stack.

4) For vehicles with interiors, use the interiors as a replacement for the Vehicle Framework's built-in passenger mechanics, not a supplement. Otherwise, clown cars are sure to follow.

Content

Listed below is every vehicle that is granted an interior by this patch, alongside the mod it comes from and my suggested sizes for their interiors (format: width x height).
I have not touched the any of RimThunder's watercraft, since, I'm not much of a naval lizard.

Trucks
Opel Blitz, Ambulance (Warhorse of the Reich) - 4x3
Opel Blitz, Covered (Warhorse of the Reich) - 4x2
LMTV (Enduring Freedom) - 5x3 by default, 6x3 with the extended upgrades

APCs
BTR-80 (Torrent Pioneer) - 5x2
M113 APC (Roaring Tiger) - 4x3
Sd.Kfz.251 (Warhorse of the Reich) - 4x2
Type 73 (Way to Samurai) - 4x3
ZSD63 (Red Cavalry) - 4x3

IFVs
BMP-3 (Breakthrough) - 2x3 (the engine layout on it is really weird)

M2A3 Bradley (Desert Sabre) - 3x3
T-15 Armata (Time Forward) - 5x4

Credits, Licensing & Other

This is a third-party patch - I am in no way affiliated with Enrico, the RimThunder team, Smash Phil, Ludeon Studios or anyone else.

99% of the credit for this mod goes to Enrico - all I really did was copypaste the patch they made for a different mod, shove in the RimThunder vehicles' IDs and write an overly long description.
All the vehicles I've patched were made by the RimThunder team, obviously.
Smash Phil is responsible for the Vehicles Framework. A heartfelt thanks for making my nomadic guerrilla runs viable.
The clothing used in the preview image comes from Combat Extended.

Anyone may fork, modify, reupload or update this mod - by all means, feel free to copypaste like I did.
If the RimThunder team sees this, they are welcome to integrate it in whatever way they see fit.

I am by no means a dedicated modder - I tested it on my end, and it seems to function, but I can't promise any tech support. No promises that the code is particularly pretty or efficient, either.

If I hadn't seen this mod, I wouldn't have thought of building walls to limit myself while I find that RV's minimum interior is 7*7(It's too big for me) lol:steamthumbsup:

have installed all dependencies, maybe caused by some order related issues. Thanks for information, I'll try to figure it out

you're gonna need the movable RV w/ interior mod, listed in the dependencies, and you'll need to make sure you're using a vehicle that's been patched - if everything is working correctly, you should see an "initialize interior" gizmo when selecting the vehicle
you should probably go look on the RV w/ interior page for further information/support

should I do something to see inner space of vehicles? after construction just see a single vehicle, no button shown or another map opened

i'm probably not gonna do it myself - again, not much of a naval lizard -, but, i will have a tutorial ready for it soon, so you could just do it yourself

Ive been waiting for a mod like this for awhile, do you think you can make it compatible with RimThunders big ship mods? Having basically a moving colony on water would be sick.

nice idea

update on future patches & tutorial video: really sorry to be doing this, but, i'm gonna have to delay it by a day
i tried to just wing it, but, it turns out i get a lot more stage fright than i remembered - tomorrow i'll have a full script ready, and, that should make it easier to record
apologies for any inconveniences, but, yeah

re: SRTS integration
for the foreseeable future, only vehicles using the Vehicles Framework by Smash Phil are likely to be patched like this

SRTS & VF have a completely different codebase and functionality - hypothetically, someone could try to make it work, but i don't have the skills for that and i don't think Enrico is interested
