Original mod notes (1.4):

Adds the Human Hive, a new way to play where colonists are replacable and must depend on a central Queen to survive!

The Human Hive was originally an artificial species created by glitterworld scientists as a way to cheaply produce workers for mining planets in far-out systems, but after the program was deemed inhumane, it was abandoned, and the already-established hives left to die out. But since then they have only spread out across the galaxy, managing to not only reproduce by themselves, but prosper in a way never intended nor expected.

Today, they are spoken of fearfully, and any planet infected with the hive is not one you would want to be on for long, before they completely overrun the entire surface.

Build Biovats to create an endless stream of expendable pawns to do your bidding, and use these units to create an endless army to overtake the rim!

Features:

Grow short-lived, expendable pawns
Auto-set the priorities of these pawns (settings in the Hive tab at the bottom of the screen)
Multiple types of creatable pawns
Research tree for Hive creatures
Custom Hediffs with complex simulated stability for each part of the pawn

HOW TO PLAY:

First step is to have a Hive queen, which you can get from the scenario, or from the world.

The queen will produce Hive Essence, which is the most important resource for any Hive.

Essence can be turned into Nutrient Goo, or combined with meat to make Organic Matter at the Hive Refinery (or done less efficiently at the crafting spot).

From these components, you can build the Biovat, which is where you grow the Hive Creatures. The Biovat must be kept fueled with Nutrient Goo to function.

Creatures grown in the Biovat will start as larva, and over the course of around 2 rimworld days will grow into adults.

When they become adults, they will gain the Stability hediff, which will decrease over time and eventually kill the pawn when it gets too low.

With time and research, you can unlock linkable upgrades to the Biovat, as well as new pawns to grow.

Mod settings also included!

Please note that this mod was intended to be used with Biotech, so using without the DLC may cause issues.

I personally don't have any plans in that regard, but Robfal is welcome to use anything from this update, or if people want to give me content to add, I will ... etc.

You should! I am but a custodian/caretaker, and I enjoy nothing more than returning a mod to its original author. Feel free to take any and all of this to update from if you so desire, and let me know if I can assist in any way.

Robfal, I absolutely would love to pick your brain at some point for this mod!

i feel like there is a whole mess that can be done with Genelines, and Integration with the Insecors mod.
