Bandits

IMPORTANT: The mod has been updated to new major version for B42 and B41. It is best to start a new save. You can also re-enable the mod for a current save, but this may lead to errors. Bandits2 introduces many changes and it's best to stop for a moment to read about the changes.

This mod introduces hostile (NPC) bandits into the game. Please be aware that the enemies in this mod are extremely dangerous, and provide an extent of challenges. Treat them as actual players when it comes to combat. You will need to relearn how to survive.

Bandit Spawning
Initially, a small groups of armed individuals with melee weapons appear in the world. Over time, much larger groups armed with handguns and rifles will arrive to take your head. In multiplayer on the other hand, this happens independently for each player. Newer players will have more so simple bandits attacking them, whereas long term players will have stronger bandits attacking them.

Bandit Customization
Some general customization is done via sandbox settings just like for any other mods.

Customization of bandit looks, weapons and spawn settings is now controlled by Bandit Creator which is a separate mod you need to subscribe to in order to make changes.

What you need to know about v2 version
  • Besides killing you, bandits can steal items from you base, sabotage your generators, vehicles or crops.
  • Bandits can destroy things: obstacles and furniture blocking their way, destroy doors and windows, destroy or remove barricades, naturally they can also simply open doors or gates.
  • They can have different extra traits which determine their extra skills
  • They carry different loot depending to their profession and skills
  • They will resupply with weapons or ammo from dead corpses and containers nearby.
  • Some of them rarely may bite you as a recently infected desperate individuals.
  • They don't know where you are until they see you or until they hear you.
  • They can shoot all weapons, including shotguns, revolvers or rifles with scopes, weapon range depends on weapon now.

Troubleshooting
There are no bandits
Do not turn off zombies in your world completely. Otherwise Bandits will not spawn. Turning off zombie respawn is ok.
Their spawning has a large random factor. But if they don't spawn for 5-7 consecutive days then something may be wrong.

IThere is too many bandits
Use Bandit Creator mod to tune the right amount for you.

the new shooting system is messing with the mod, i hit a bandit 4 times with a 308 rifle and dealt no damage whilst staggering the target. its fine with zombies since limb hits shouldnt do much but when a guy receives 10 bullets and receives no damage without having any significant protection is annoying

a few observations:

far away zombies that spawn with ammo and guns act like they're bandits (i.e. they shoot at zombies). if you get close, they turn into zombies (like mentioned in one of the recent posts).

bandits spawn directly near me in groups of three, with no chance for me to get into cover.

very often, like 10 zombies/survivors, carry the same amount of guns, weapons, etc.

thank you slayer ! I ll pay you a drink when it is payday ! in my current run I survived for 2 months, killed 110 bandits ! I'm in Louisville, my military vehicule saved my ass a few times either by running away or driving on bandits corpses ! I love that ! so very funny !

NPCs spawn in large numbers at once and some of them are zombies, which is why a lot of errors pop up

Yeah, I basically can't play my save until I get an update saying it's fixed. I haven't seen a bandit and the game's been crashing, so it's almost like the very appearance of bandits crash the game.
