E.H.O.F. Re-Localization (for Gigastructural Engineering)

Description
As of the June 29th, 2024 Gigastructures update that brought it in compatibility with Stellaris v.3.12.x "Andromeda"/The Machine Age, the contents of this mod have been integrated with Gigastructures! Consequently, this mod is no longer in production, but you still may use it if you like.

The Event Horizon Offset Facility. You know it and love it, unless you worked on it, in which case you hate it (and if you don't know it, what are you doing here? Go install Gigastructural Engineering & More).

There's a lot to the E.H.O.F., its related technologies, and especially the lengthy quest chains connected to it. All that stuff is backed by around 1500 lines of localization, in fact! That’s a whole lotta words.

If you’ve given it a couple playthroughs, you might even be inclined to say that it’s too many words. The prose has a certain quality to it. At some points, it is painfully repetitive or simply over-verbose, at others, it lapses into technobabble and blocks of measurements that less drive the story than grind it to a halt. Often, the structural grammar and phraseology are clumsy in ways that aggravate those aforementioned issues (I cut so many “the”s by rewording sentences...). As the estimable Alexis Kennedy wrote recently, “Even in a writing-centric game, you never want the writing to outstay its welcome. As soon as the player stops reading, it becomes pointless. […] If you can get as much effect for 29 words as for 64, you'll want to go for 29. The player will thank you.”

Features:
  • Hands-on treatment! Pretty much every single line of text related to the E.H.O.F. et. al. has been changed. The only ones I passed over were, like, event headers. This is a top-to-bottom cleaning.
  • Clearer and more concise! The vast majority of edits are, as alluded to above, stylistic. I have elected to cut some instances of extraneous fluff, but the vast majority of changes were simply crunching down phrases and sentences to get to the point without feeling like you're being dragged around. None of the essential information has been left out.
  • The same core narrative you know and love! Minor rewrites of substance to the central Reality Code event chain (the details of several of the digs were changed to create a narrative through-line of mastering the technologies within the event chain; eg. no more giant anchors)
  • Standardization! I've done a visual pass on things like icon/color uses to bring them in-line with the way the base game’s text is formatted. No more Sentient Metal resource icons everywhere!

It's probably best practice to load this after Gigas, but due to the particulars of how Stellaris handles localization, it might not actually matter. As with Gigas, I strongly recommend using UI Overhaul Dynamic.

Thank you for this. The writing for the EHOF felt very phoned-in, as if it was just an addition to post-hoc justify the underlying cool events and technology you see in-game. Very well done localization.

There was so much dialogue in these that it would go off my screen, may this fix that, good mod!

Thank God for this. The custom "story" content for GE is hot garbage and makes but can be turned off without losing any of Giga's content. The EHOF, meanwhile, is mandatory (but flawed) and in my opinion, and this mod fixes near everything wrong with it. Must have!
