Inanis - Springhares

Description
Springhares, sometimes called Space Springhares (Scientific name Pedetes Inanis) are a herbivorous species of hopping rodents that have evolved to live within habitats in the deep reaches of the void between stars.

They are somewhat speedy, need less food, are efficient at work and effective at ranged weapons, however their smaller frame makes them unable to carry heavy loads and terrible close combat brawlers.

Due to their herbivorous diet they can eat grass and weeds but cannot eat meat, needing a more careful management of resources to make it through a harsh winter.

The species as a whole does not survive well on planets historically, though some groups still try to (or are more often forced to) settle on them for various reasons. Despite being a small rodent species they none the less sometimes join groups of other species, even ones normally considered natural predators.

---------------

This is the reworked version of the old Springhare Race mod, updated to be fully compatible with RimWorld version 1.5.

I'm not too well versed with mod making, so if there are any bugs or I missed something out, please feel free to make a discussion (or even just a comment) and I'll see what I can do about fixing it!

---------------

Features:

- Springhares are smaller, lighter and springier creatures that are eager to please. Thus they are rather good with hit-and-run tactics, and fare very poorly in melee combat. Be careful if one gets in social fights with a larger species!

- Two Scenarios for the hoppers: A standard start of a few Springhares falling from their shattered spaceborn narrowboat home in orbit, and a true disaster of a small ruined Springhare habitat spilling it's unprepared residents down to a nearby desolate world.

- A storyteller to guide you along your path. Camomile is a rather relaxed storyteller for now, though once in a while she'll give a nasty spring-kick. Cammomile is still under development.

- Visits from passing Springhares, visiting goods traders, and the occasional orbital trader offering goods from their Narrowboats above.

Built upon the Humanoid Alien Races 2.0 mod. Put this mod below it in the mod order list (Should auto-sort). This mod shouldn't conflict with any other mod, if it does please let me know.

All Space Springhare artwork and graphics were made by either Timor or Tea Spot.

If you like this mod, and/or would like to help me make more mods like this, please consider dropping a donation at the Pedetes Productions Ko-Fi! It all goes towards commissioning more art/graphics from Timor, as well as getting me more cups of the tea I drink to survive~!

@Tea Spot Hi again. I noticed that the springhares don't have the "hearing" stats. Sight, talking etc. is there, but no hearing, even after installing bionic springhare ears. After checking social in stats, after replacing ears with bionic once, hearing is still at 100%, instead of 150%.

thank you

@toradrow777 That's so strange, there's no vanilla files that I can think of that gets changed, but as mentioned when I can I'll look into it. Work's a bit of a kilelr right now though alas!

@Kihtan Oh! that'll need fixing, yeah. In theory the Cloth tails shouldn't even be an item, but simply somethign that uses cloth material as a recipie... I'll need to edit that to work better! thank you so much for letting me know, I'll fix it when work lets me have the time!

Hello. I noticed that the "cloth springhare tail" is in no stockpile list. after buying it i could not carry it inside, because it was not on the list of item that can be storred.

@Tea Spot: Yeah, it caused the bones from one mod (or the other, can't remember which one) to become invisible. Still usable, but invisible.

@toradrow777: Good question, and I'm unsure. Will give it a test to see when next able, and if it bugs, will try to fix. Thanks for reporting!

Is this compatible with Rimworld of Madness - Bones? Because I remember the mods having a slight conflict before, namely regarding bones.

@Shoes
that's good to know, thank you! I'll see if I can do some refinement tweaking over the next while to sort that out.

Hello. I enjoy using mods to make my colony deal with eldritch abominations, living in a volcano, and multiple factions trying to burn down their home. I noticed that Faction Control (1.4/1.5) causes issues with your mod. It causes a faction to appear in the create world menu. This faction is listed as Springhares. This faction has no icon which causes an error message. It's not a duplicate faction since it has a different description than the normal Springhare settlement faction.

@emberbuck: Oh dangit, you're all going to get me doing Biotech now aren't you XD To be fair if I did have that DLC Id certainly give it a good hard look into altering the mod after seeing what it's like.
Sorry for the late reply also, barely had any time/energy to even open steam the last month, let alone mod or play x.x
