Namalsk Darkness

Description
SEE DISCLAIMER AT THE BOTTOM

Allows configuration or addition of darkness areas using Namalsk's darkness system.
Works on any map that does not conflict with Namalsk's undergroundvfx script.

This mod does NOT allow removal or reduction of existing hard-coded darkness zones from Namalsk, which can only be manually changed by overriding undergroundvfx.c

Do NOT overlap added darkness zones with existing ones, or with each other.

The mod generates a json config in your profiles folder that you will use instead of cfgundergroundtriggers.json (do not use both).

It also uses Namalsk's coordinate system, so "breadcrumb" coordinates must be converted to this format. X, Y, Z. with min and max being the coordinate limits on each axis.
The limits for each axis draw a box around the area between the minimums and maximums.

See pinned discussion for a readme for the config file.

Here is an example config, made to replace all darkness zones on the Pripyat map: https://github.com/soc-dayz/Darkness-Pripyat/blob/main/underground.json

I highly recommend using DayZ Editor along with Dumpgrah's Darkness Triggers 3D Grid Tool to align the camera position in the Editor exactly where you want the edge of a zone to be, and use those coordinates in the config.

Multiple zones can be configured side-by-side to cover zones of any size and shape, or to create a longer 'fade-in' of the darkness effect. However, having too many triggers close together can cause issues. When multiple zones are close enough together that the player can run through several before each applies its darkness fade-in, the darkness level gets 'stuck' and may not fully darken until another trigger is encountered.

May also work if you're having issues with darkness areas with Underground Bases, haven't tested yet.

Repacks are allowed, just don't upload a copy and claim credit.

DISCLAIMER

There are advantages and disadvantages to using Namalsk's darkness system over the vanilla one.
After heavy testing of both systems I've eventually moved towards using vanilla darkness once a fix for NVGs was shared with me:
