Europa Barbarorum I New Units From EB1.33

描述
Overview

Play the Imperatoris Mundi campaign on Hard Campaign, Medium Battle. Teobec and b0Gia recently released EB 1.33 for OG RTW. In that release are dozens of new units. This mod will bring them to
rt2021's EB 1 port, along with many QOL changes

New Units Highlights

  • Galatian Elite Infantry provide their incredible prowess and terrifying metal facial masks to the Seleucids
  • Hellenistic Reformed Infantry copy the empire-establishing characteristics of the Roman legionnairy, but can you properly utilize them by the time they appear?
  • Samnite Linean Legions lie in wait for their Epirote or Carthaginian liberators, ready to revolt against Rome at any moment
  • Greek Crossbow Missiles pack a massive punch, but only the polis of Syracuse can produce these skilled and deadly men
  • Iberian Elite Warriors, called the Dovideri, are one of the few units able to match the Linean Legion in professionalism and zeal
  • Tarentine, Lakedaimonian, and Achaian Phalangites proudly represent their reputable polises
  • Many more!

Familiar Faces From EBII

  • Bosporan Elite Skirmishers and Bosporan Horse Archers defend their polis from the unwashed Scythian tribes of the steppes
  • Libyan Swordsmen from EBII are far from the Elite African Infantry of EBI, but at least they're available right from the start!
  • West Anatolian Champions guard the interests of the Pontic Basileus. Don't ask why they're only available in East Anatolia...
  • Cretan Infantry are the premier heavy skirmisher of the Eastern Mediterranean
  • Delmato Pannonian Cavalry will do what they did historically: provide hordes of quality horsemen to any power that subjugates the Pannonian plains
  • Illyrian Heavy Infantry raid, pillage, and plunder from their Adriatic pirate bases
  • Many more!

Fake Units I Cobbled Together From Existing Assets

  • Thracian Heavy Skirmishers are the Thracian counterpart to Galatian Heavy Swordsmen, and will guard the flanks of their Ptolemaic benefactors admirably.

Changes

  • Halved distance to capital penalties
  • Ptolemies can now recruit Libyan Swordsmen, Spearmen, and Heavy Spearmen (last one after March Of Time though)
  • Most negative building modifiers removed
  • Unlocked even more buildings for all civilized factions: Pontos and Epeiros now have 6 temples to build, Highways and level 3 farms are more accessible, and government requirements for purely economic buildings have been relaxed
  • Nerfed heavy skirmishers like the Peltastai and the Peltastai Makedones, and buffed many underpowered Celtic Swordsmen units
  • Removed land rebel spawns to prevent late game slogs
  • Removed all morale and experience bonuses to prevent the mass-production of supersoldiers. In their place are happiness bonuses
  • Buffed AI general hitpoints so that battles are more challenging
  • Removed controversial units like Briton Swordsmasters, Elite African Pikemen, and those Iberian Cataphracts. You won't miss them
  • Locked the frankly overpowered Thorakitai, Hippeis, Aspidotai Hippeis, and Lonchophoroi Hippeis behind the March Of Time reforms

Fixes

  • Fixed family members spawning with random client ruler units like Celtic Mercenary General, at the cost of removing client ruler units from the game. Type IV governments now offer 30% happiness to compensate
  • Removed the buggy NotInHisSatrapy traitline from the Seleucids
  • Slowed down AI settlement growth rate to allow the player a chance to personally develop conquered settlements
  • Replaced the useless loyalty bonus with flat happiness bonuses.

Known Issues

  • Upon conquering an enemy settlement, the previous government may not automatically be removed. Consider destroy it as free money
  • Vanilla EB1 Remastered has many out-of-place units in rebel settlements, likely due to descr_strat.txt being populated by a small program. If you see Iberian Medium Spearmen in Greece, just look the other way and kill them dead

Recommendations

  • Try the Imperator Mundis campaign! The drastically increased number of settlements (and starting ones for playable factions!) makes the early game much easier even for notorious factions like Pontus (4 regions) and Saka (almost 10!).
  • Forge the most bizarrely shaped empires. You have new EB 1.33 units to check out, and the large number of settlements make financing your empire much easier

Credits

Credit goes to Teobec and b0Gia for the amazing new units, and their dedication towards developing EB even after almost 2 decades, and to rt2021 for porting over EB1 to RR to breathe new life into this gem

So far i'm loving this mod, although i did get a surprise when playing my first run as Baktria, and finding out just how much population growth my entire empire was getting! i'm glad you can stack temples, otherwise 50K+ populations would have been more frustrating. Loving the wealth that comes from them though, especially when landlocked! :)

Just a question about locking Hippeis and Lonchoporoi behind reforms, how where they overpowered exactly? Cavalry in EB as far as I remember was useless unless you cycle charged them nonstop, minus generals bodyguards of Nomads. And I mean all cavalry, even the "can stay in melee" ones that were supposed to stand and actually fight

@Abbrew
I see now that this mod is standalone and doesn't require another mod in order to play the EB1 campaign. Thank you for the clarification and assistance!

Oh, you're not supposed to stack this mod on top of rt2021's original port. This mod is a standalone. That's why you're getting the indian culture message. rt2021's latest updates include adding the Indian faction and my mod doesn't account for that

@Abbrew

I've loaded the EB units mod first before the main mod and I've now run a test where the Libyran Swordsmen are available to recruit in Kart-Hadast. However, when initializing and loading to the main menu I encounter this error message.

See ink below for screenshot of error message.

@ChickenTarTar
That's extremely odd, the libyan skirmishers aren't there either. Do you have any other mods that override the export_descr_buildings.txt file?
ChickenTarTar 2024 年 12 月 12 日 上午 11:06
@Abbrew Yes the mod is checked for implementation when initializing Rome Remastered.

Yes I do not see the Libyran Swordsmen in Kart-Hadast. Please see link below for screenshot evidence.

@ChickenTarTar
The new units are restricted to certain factions. Also, this mod incorporates the custom battle roster made by someone else, so those new units are restricted to factions that historically used them
Libyan swordsmen should be available from the 3rd level barracks in core Punic regions. Are you certain you have the mod loaded?
ChickenTarTar 2024 年 12 月 10 日 下午 1:05
I don't think this mod works since I do not see the units available in custom battles.

Also I tried starting a fresh Carthaginian campaign to see if the Libyan Swordsmen were available but they were not.

@NeoBuzantinos
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2637753606 has all of the changes in my version, plus a few new ones and is regularly updated. You can consider rt2021 to be the "official" maintainer of EB1 on Remastered. If you're asking about my Revamped mod, it's still being developed but only for fun. I add new features and then play them for fun. So it could be a few more months before I release another Revamped version
