Description
Amalthea, the one who raised Zeus

Amalthea is the core piece if the colony. V.Amalthea is the 5th Moon of Jupiter and part of the Amalthea moon cluster.
V.Amalthea is a mobile base outfitted with everything a space engineer might need. Power generation and storage are no problem with hydrogen engines and lots of cargo containers. Theres also lots of room to store hydrogen and some solar panels help if there is no ice nearby. As an early game ship with basic materials it doesn't have access to things like gravity generators. That is why the ship features a zero-g interior with all four walls being the floor. There also landing opportunities for the other members of the moon cluster. Metis and Adrastea (Miner and fighter) sit on the outside landing pads located on the left and on the right side while Thebe (Salvage ship) sits on the interior landing pad. Thebe optionally can dock to the salvage bay to refill hydrogen and energy.

Before flying: Press the button at the front of the cockpit to make the ship flight ready.

No mods and no scripts.
Subgrids: Antenna Dish (Optional)

Lore

Amalthea is all what the Amalthea Colony is about. Thus its name. V.Amalthea serves as a home to the six crewmates that live onboard and its also a workplace. Mining with Metis is the most common thing to do but sometimes wrecks are found which are salvaged by Thebe. Fights are rare but sometimes not avoidable which is why there is a fighter onboard. Though the rest of the fleet is ought to fight with Adrastea side by side. The Amalthea Colony tries to stay out of reach of any enemies while on expedition and travels far. The time the colony turns back to habitatable areas is when there is something to trade for.

Toolbar menu and terminal is cleaned up to the essentials. To edit hidden blocks toggle the option "Show block in toolbar config".

Thank you! There‘s a lot that can help with detailing but what I usually like to do is painting in many different colors. You see, my Dawn Strider has about 20 different colors and I feel like that‘s mostly what makes the ship that ship. I also like to inspire myself from irl spaceflight like the position lights for example.
Another really important thing to me is layering. The parts that stick out a bit more I like to color in the main color (yellow in this case) and the stuff that‘s a little more below I paint in grey usually.
For the interior: Keep the lights at a low radius because the shadows often give great detail.
Also try to use everything except standard armor blocks. There are no blocks with less detail than the armor blocks so if you want very much detail you can use functional blocks with more detail.

Hope this helps because I never really thought about what I do when designing my ships.

There is so much detail in both the interior and exterior, and all your designs look so "realistic" in a way. Absolutely love it. Do you have any tips on making your ships more detailed, while still keeping the functionality?
