Description


Are you tired of the boring pine tree for your festive and jolly Christmas festival? There might not even be a pine tree where your colonists call home, so where did it even come from? Perhaps thousands of years from now, the term "Christmas tree" could mean any kind of tree. With this mod you can choose from a large variety of Christmas trees, perfect for all colonies and lore backgrounds on the rim.

This mod uses the Vanilla Expanded Framework and allows the player to change the texture of the Christmas tree added in the Ideology DLC. While the Ideology DLC is needed, Royalty and Biotech will not be required to use and enjoy the mod. Although you don't need those DLC however, you will still need those DLC to gain access to their respective trees. Safe for installing and uninstalling mid saves.

Q: Can I install this mid game? Can I uninstall this mid game?
A: Yes! This mod allows you to change the texture of the base game Christmas tree instead of giving you multiple christmas trees, filling up your architect menu. Removing this mod will simply make the christmas tree return to it's original appearance.

Q: What if I use a mod that retextures the christmas tree but I want to use this mod?
A: Mods that retexture the original christmas tree will only retexture the original pine texture. You will still see the other tree variations as normal and should only affect the original pine christmas tree. This is of course assuming that the retexture mod is loaded after this mod. If you want to use our retexture of the original christmas tree, put this at the below the other mod.

Q: Is this CE compatible?
A: No, I secretly added a patch dedicated to destroying your save game if CE is found. After all, retexture mods are not supposed to be enjoyed by CE players.

Note that this mod uses tree textures from other modders, with some trees and slight edits, alongside the ornaments, by me, therefore any modifications to the textures of this mod must be consulted with their respective artists before hand.

New update for y'all! Now supports Ecotech and Mashed's Ashlands with 16 new tree variations. I also have updated the visuals for the christmas star and bulbs on all trees!
(I have yet to update the workshop image gallery, so just look at the main preview image for now.)

No problem, also let me know if there are any mods that adds new trees (such as biomes mods) that way I can ask their mod creator for access to tree textures and have new updates out by Christmas time. Already have planned for mashed’s ashlands biome update but if yall find any hidden or niche biomes do let me know!

Update: We found that there was a mod conflict when used alongside Regrowth: Retextures which added code preventing any alterations to the Christmas Tree texture. We have now added a patch that should make the mod compatible alongside theirs.

We also added an updated mod icon to make it look nicer, yippie.

Please post bug reports in discussions, and follow instructions there so I can be able to pinpoint the cause of the error and how to fix it.

I also cannot get the tree to change appearence even though the menu comes up. Other things with variations work fine, its just the christmas tree.

are you able to change the texture of the comms console or other structures when using Vanilla Textures Expanded - Variations?
