Nordic Honor

Description
Nordic Honor
This mods goal is to introduce new Germanic religions, unique doctrines, and holy sites, allowing players to explore ancient Norse and Germanic faiths while making important decisions that shape the religious future of their realms.

The mod aims to encourage players to refrain from reforming the pagan belief and instead remain a tribe for as long as possible or transition into the feudal era as an unreformed pagan kingdom.

Compability
  • Achievement compatible.
  • Overwrites only 00_germanic.txt.
  • NOT Savegame compatible!
  • Legacyversions avaliable if needed

good additions
- R.I.C.E.
- Historic Invasion

Known incompatibilities
- Rurik: Chronica Slavorum
- Old Gods expanded

Some Features
New Germanic Faiths
  • Forn Siðr represents the ancient German pantheon of gods, with the supreme deity being Wotan
  • Giñnregla represents the Iclandic pantheon of gods, it endured until the 11th century.
  • Heiðinn represents the slavic-germanic pantheon of gods, when the scandinavians settled the Rus it intermixed.
  • Náttúruguðtrúar represents the sami-norse pantheon which is focused on nature.
  • Óðinstru represents a very fundamental warlike pantheon.
Each new faith has unique decisions attached to it. Some of these pantheons can designate Rome or even Constantinople as their holy site, while others seek to establish peaceful relations with Christians.

New Decisions
Last Duel Decision
An old ruler may choose a worthy opponent to engage in a final duel, seeking to enter Valhalla with glory. If the heir honors this request and emerges victorious, they will gain a unique trait.
Form Old Saxia Kingdom
Rulers with Germanic heritage may choose to recreate the Kingdom of Saxony, which was conquered by Charlemagne. Of course, no member of the Carolingian dynasty would do that.
Deciding the religious future
Decide whether Iceland become Christian or stays true to the old ways
Religious Coexistence
Make peace with christian faith

...many more

Altered game Starts
(868)
  • Jarl Dyre 'the Stranger' starts as a Heiðinn and has a unique Trait, along with increased troop numbers.
  • Along the border with Sami/Sweden, some Jarls embrace the faith of Náttúruguðtrúar.
  • In Iceland, Chieftress Auðr and Chieftain Garðar have the option to abandon the old ways.
  • ...

More
- new Trait
- more Names for nordic pagans
- new Holysites
- unique gfx for decisions and events

Historical Accuracy
Most of the names and decisions are entirely fictional, intended to expand the universe of the Germanic faith. That being said, I strive to add features in a way that they appear plausible and are rooted somewhat in historical actions or archaeological findings.

Localizations
- English (original)
- French by Snottee
- Russian by BladeRunner

Future
Yes - more features planned.
However I am currently in completing my university education and got a lot of other things to handle - so this project is currently on halt until i got time to continue.

@Maximum Discipline: Thank you!

@Falubo2008: My mod aims to enhance unreformed gameplay. I want to encourage players to stay Viking — that means things will get tougher (especially in the later time periods), but you'll also get some special bonuses, like turning those so-called "beacons of civilization" into temples for the Old Gods.

Do not betray the gods, stay true to the Allfather:Hire:

Very good mod. Though is there a reason why reformed asatru faiths cant turn constantinople and rome to holy sites? Also are there any plans of adding something to later start dates like 1066?

Ok I just checked again and Rollo does appear on the map, he is just forced to be Count in southern Norway instead of being an Adventurer.

@N*rd Huh, weird, I tested it today and it didn't work

@ZwergenPiste

To the best of my knowledge, RICE has a specific compatibility feature for mods (such as mine) that affect Rollo. It is definitely possible to play Rollo with RICE and Nordic Honor, as I tested this scenario some time ago.

Somehow this mod makes picking Rollo from RICE impossible. Everytime I select him from the starting screen and press Play to jump into the game, it throws me to the screen where you can pick any starting ruler from the whole map/create your own ruler.

Piggy Backing of TibVikings suggestion;

Being able to add Toledo, Cordoba, Tunis/ Carthage as holy sites aswell would be cool as a Norse in north africa or Iberia.

A cool idea would also be to have a norse character on Basque Territories be able to form a Hybrid faith with Euskal & Norse via decision.
