RWI - Uller Class Assault Frigate SR

The Uller Assault Frigate is built like an arrow and named after the Norse god of hunting (among other things). It’s hull is lightweight allowing it to accelerate quickly and maneuver in reaction to combat. Intended as a replacement for the aging Defender class the Uller has increased its size, weapons load out and jump range by roughly 20%. This allows the Uller to complement the mission parameters of any Defender still in the fleet. However, not to be outdone, the incredible firepower of the Uller’s railgun pods allows the frigate to engage and cripple enemy vessels. This is hoped to be a standard tactic of the Uller: waiting till the battle has started and then picking off high value targets from a distance.

Built into the Uller are several standard features, a drone/shuttle bay, a landing bay (capable of landing on any planet safely but unable to escape 1G planets without help), engineering, med bay, cryo storage, crew quarters, bridge and cargo storage. However the ship also has 3 large bays open to place any number of upgrades with very little effort. Fleet command could add more jump drives to increase range, add cargo containers, additional weapon systems or atmospheric thrusters.

This version is the survival ready vanilla version with artillery cannons, assault turrets, rail guns and standard reactor cores. While fragile without shields, keeping this vessel at long range is ideal.
