Hello! I'd like to share with you a mod aimed to improve raindrops appearance on windshield (and rain in general) and make game more realistic and immersive.

Key features:
  • Add new texture and significantly increase number of raindrops.
  • Improved physical behaviour of particles, now their spawn will be more affected by truck position relatively to rain inclination.
    It makes a huge difference and vastly improve perception of weather! Just try it yourself!
  • Reworked sound effects for wipers and rain
  • New car splash trails

Tweak these sliders to achieve comfortable sound level:
  • Rain inside, Wipers - Interior sounds volume
  • Rain outside - World sounds volume

IMPORTANT
- In version 1.1 was added TRUCK ADDON. It is a sub-mod that triples number of raindrops but ONLY FOR ETS2 SCS TRUCKS! INCOMPATIBLE with modded trucks and interiors.

Mod is compatible with any other weather/sound mods, just give Better Raindrops a priority and place on top of others.

Known issues:
If you experiencing performance issues try to reduce traffic by entering console command g_traffic 0.5. Change the number to find optimal balance between amount of AI cars and your FPS in the rain.

For 0 rain intensity 60% or even more is fine because it's dry, right? But even in the lightest rain, like 0.00001, there should be no squeak at all. In real life squeaking is completely impossible while lubricated. It's an annoying sound that should only happen when dry so you remember to turn the wipers off after the rain stopped.

That is my suggestion. Otherwise the mod is perfect and I enjoy it very much, thank you.

@Drev_n, thanks for feedback! The wipers squeak probability is based on rain intensity. Currently for 0-0.05 rain intensity it's 60% chance, 0.10 - 16%, 0.45 - 6%, 0.80-1.0 - 0%.

It's not the final values yet and I'll be glad if you suggest other numbers so I can improve the mod :)

Thanks for the update!

I noticed the wipers squeak very often as if the windshield is dry. It's very annoying, especially when wipers are on high speed in heavy rain.

The sound fixes mod fixed it so wipers only squeak when dry, but unfortunately I cannot give that mod priority over yours because it overwrites the whole thing.

UPDATE: It seems that this mod may be at fault or the mod and 1.50 cannot agree on how to reflect the sun in a puddle. I can't tell which.

I have been playing with it for a bit and these odd flashes occur only when it is raining (explains the no sun glints from my other comment.)

List:

flashes occur when the light hits the puddles
red flashes occur though super rare.
Flashes occur in the side mirrors mainly but did see it once in front of me.
Daytime only, mostly around dusk and dawn.

Hope this helps to figure out what the deal is

Hey users, can you double check something? This mod may be the reason I see overblown yellow flashes instead of the usual sun glints on "polished" reflective surfaces for the 1.50 update.

What I am seeing

Mod on, I see the bad flashes.

Mod off, I don't even see sun glints at all.

I am trying to see if the problem is the mod, or the base game as I can't seem to truly verify it either way..
