Description


The ancient origins of the minotaur remain shrouded in mystery, helped very little by their hostility toward humans. Man once reared not only cattle, but also minotaur — branding them with hot irons and enslaving them as labourers or cannon fodder. Today, minotaur civilisations can be found as far away from humans as possible — less-so for the minotaur’s safety, and more-so the humans’.

An exception to this rule are the "guardians": minotaur bred and bound by empirical or wealthy factions to protect the monarchy of mentally superior but physically inferior xenos.

Standing at a staggering two-to-three metres tall, the brash minotaur are known for their ability to thrive in even the most bitter corners of the world thanks to their imposing might, hardy stomachs and sturdy hooves. This race of xeno goes into heat every Aprimay, can digest haygrass with ease and celebrate every victory with a bellowing moo.












Though their quadrupedal counterparts sport a docile temperament, the minotaur are known for their reckless tempers and ability to lose their inhibitions when pushed to the edge. Witnessing this rage sends bystanders running for the hills.

In exchange for their short tempers, minotaurs possess a number of useful genes, and similarly to cows, they can be milked. (Lactation can be toggled per gender within the mod settings: males and females can both be milked by default.)











Humans may be the scribes of history, but the minotaur are sure the keepers of it, and seldom share their secrets with others. One of these secrets is that of the fabled weapons. These mythical weapons aren't craftable, and are only obtainable through special means.

They can only be equipped by pawns with the herculean gene and each have custom equip sounds, damage sounds and visual effects, as well as unique gameplay mechanics.














Included in the core version of Roo’s Minotaur Xenotype are six bovine tattoos and a selection of minotaur-crossbreed xenotype icons for your own custom xenos.








It’s likely that your colonists will find themselves nose-to-snout with a minotaur during their adventures. While some minotaur defect and live in peace with other xenos, others find themselves being forced into living alongside them, either as slaves or as guardians.



Aside from the standard minotaur you’ll find integrated in various factions, you might also come across some special ones with unique qualities, backstories and weapons.





Q: Is this mod compatible with…?
A: Please check the compatibilities page.

Q: Do I need any other mods to use this?
A: A priority of mine when making this mod was to keep it light on dependencies and bloat. Only Harmony and the Biotech DLC are needed to use this mod.

Q: Can I add this to an existing save?
A: Yes, but upon loading your save, enable "regenerate chunks" in the mod settings menu.

Q: I don't want rock chunks to be throwable.
A: Tick "Disable Weaponized Chunks" and "Regenerate Chunks" in the mod settings menu. Restart, and chunks will no longer be weapons.

Q: I'm experiencing a bug.
A: Visit the bugs discussion page and see if this bug has already been addressed.

Q: I don't like X.
A: You can change and disable features of this mod in the mod settings menu.

Q: I need more minotaurs. I NEED.
A: Download Roo's Minotaur Xenotype Expanded, for minotaur factions, apparel and more.

We're going to be working on a 1.5 update for this mod soon, as well as some rebalancing tweaks and changes. The update might take some time, as Rimworld's method of drawing pawns has been revamped, which will change how features like the Unguligrade legs are rendered. We'll find out!

Huge fan of this mod though, even if I don't really use herculean weapons ever.
