ASI Deep Space Outpost Alpha

Description
Vanilla + DLC

This station is designed to house a single engineer living in deep space. It serves as a storage and refinery platform as well as manufacturing centre and trade outpost. Designed in creative and built live on a server.

The main design constraints were to make an RP base with no subgrids and no sorters. The first to make it better on performance, and the latter to see if I could. The server I play on has pretty tight restrictions on sorters, so I thought I'd try an experiment to see if I could organise my refineries the way I want without using any at all.

The station has two distinct zones. The pressurized section where people live and socialize and the unpressurized section where all the industrial equipment is housed. Two gravity corridors serve as lifts at either end of the station and allow you to traverse the whole facility at a run with minimal use of stairs.

This station is meant to be static. So make sure you have unsupported stations enabled if you want to use it. Or just add engines and a gyro.

Pressurized:
-Trade station
-Company Office
-Crew quarters
-Armoury

Unpressurized:
-Refinery
-Switch Room
-Factory
-Internal Storage
-Upper Hanger
-Lower Hangar
-Reactor

External
-Ore Storage
-Cargo storage overflow
-Comms Array
-Printer Array
-Ore drop off
-Trade landing pads and connectors

Storage
There are nine sections of cargo containers on the outside for bulk storage of ore. These can be dropped into individually using the labelled connectors outside or you can access them by linking the main conveyor system in the switch room and use the trade connectors.

There is also 16 internal cargo containers for parts, ingots, ice,and equipment as well as another 12 external containers for any overflow.

There are no sorters on the base so you will have to drag things manually.

Refining
The four refineries have their input controlled from the switch room. You can either process four different ores in parallel or route some to multiple refineries. It's best to turn off the refineries when you are switching so you can make sure your connectors are right before you end up with things pulled in directions you don't want.

To access the refined minerals you need to connect up the system to the main conveyor network. Also best done when refineries are switched off.

Obviously not optimal compared to just putting in 8 sorters for ore, but part of the idea of the station was to test out if you could sort ore manually. And to try and make an immersive refinery that is more than just a block.

Production blocks:
4 Refineries
4 Assemblers
8 O2 Gens

Connectors
The connectors in the bottom hangar and the lower landing pads are just locking on points for charging. All the ones on the top are conveyed properly.

Well I've got a light armour planetary base that will get cleaned up and posted at some point and I'm working on an industrial one at the moment.

This is truly an amazing build. I hate to imagine how long it took you to plumb all those conveyors and how many times you must have gotten lost.
I play on a Roleplay server and this will make a perfect start as a faction base as it gives the players more jobs and immersion.
Well done.
