HAYDEN DELAWARE Engineering released its first productive mining vessel in 2075, the M12. Its design focusses on compact size, low production and maintenance costs as well as a moderate cargo hold of 12k liters of ore. The added possibility of disposing unwanted gravel and stone while mining makes it a perfect asteroid miner for precious metals, as long as a base mining station or ship is nearby. The small hydrogen tanks don't allow extended mining trips but it is still a very popular miner for many mining companies following the slogan "labor is cheaper than equipment". 

The M12 is intended for zero to low gravity environments up to a maximum of 0.4g. The demand for a comparable design with higher gravity capabilities lead to its successor the M12B.
