My Little Pony (G4 Races)

Description
This mod aims to add the various creatures from My Little Pony, including the following: Ponies, Griffons, Zebra, Changelings, Diamond Dogs, Yaks and Buffalo.

The original files weren't made by me, I've tried to edit them to get them to work in the current steam version.
Currently version doesn't have graphics for the entities, so they are undefined.
Undefined graphics are shown as blue blobs.
I would appreciate advice on how to make custom graphics, it looks a bit daunting.
The current version still has some errors in the error log, redundant files or tokens no longer used, etc.
If you have any crashes, or see any bugs. Feedback will be appreciated.

Instructions for use:
Once subscribed, whilst in game if the mod is in your mod menu. Go to world creation and you have a choice.
If you want a world with the vanilla civilsations of dwarves, elves etc. AND the ponies.
Just add the My Little Pony mod over to the active mods.
If you want a world consisting of just the Ponies, Griffons, Zebras, etc.
Move the Vanilla_Entities over to the not active column and activate the My Little Pony mod.
This should gnerate a world of just the My Little Ponies.

Things to be done:
-Reduce errors in the Errorlog.
-Add graphics to each and every current custom creature.
-Maybe add some custom civs like Deer (elf analog), cows, giraffe, cats, etc.
-Add in some MLP creatures like the Manticore, parasprites, etc.

I do not currently intend to add custom buildings.
Although if there are any other mods that involve magic, etc.
I would be interested.

CREDITS
Since this mod makes use of modified and deriative works of other modders, It's not all my own work, I have tweaked the files here and there which has helped me understand a bit more how the mods and game works.
I am a dwarf stand on the shoulders of ... possibly giants or other dwarfs.

Update Version 0.2:
-Added Deer as civ, these are intended to act a bit like Elves, but can be played with dwarf actions like mining, chopping trees, etc.
-Some placeholder graphics for Ponies, Griffons, Changelings, Yaks, Buffalo, Diamond Dogs, Deer.
Deer, Yaks, Buffalo use effectively in game domestic creature sprites.
Ponies, Changelings, Griffons & Diamond Dogs use modified and downgraded sprites sourced from truefrenzy on deviantart. Their permissions seem to be open source for non profit usage as long as they are credited.

Update Version 2.0:
-Should have graphics for most races,male, female, etc. Still having issues with getting Ponies to display correctly for earth, pegasi, unicorn, etc.

As you have pointed out, the tons of different castes has made it difficult for me to wrap my head round which tags to use.
I did make some simple graphics for each subtype for male, female, earth, pegasi, unicorn, baby, possibly undead and corpse.
But unlike the Changeling and Diamond dog castes, which do show correctly.
The ponies only show the earth pony? graphic for all of the ponies.
A slight improvement on the blue blobs, but a far cry from a potential rainbow of different coloured ponies.

I think the steam version still lags behind with an older pathing code, as the pegasi, griffons, etc. Still seem to get stuck up trees or on ledges on a regular basis.
I wonder if there's code that could be included in the mod to help?

So I think we might need a discord to bring in interested parties?

thanks for the information and input.
I think we/I might need to make a discord channel or something to continue further with the graphics for the Ponies.

Ideally I think it would be great to have graphics that display correctly for each Phenotype (Earth/Pegasi/Unicorn), their hair colour, style, coat and maybe even cutie mark depending on graphics resolution.

I've used the simple method of making graphics for each of the different races in the MLP mod.
It was relatively easy to make the graphics work for the Yaks, Changelings, Diamond dogs, Zebra, etc.
As I could identify the functional caste tags for female, male, etc.

It's a bit detailed and convoluted at the same time, but it essentially means every single caste would need to be touched on to do the correct display I imagine. Admittedly I'm not fully learned on how the graphics stuff works for the Steam version of DF.

Also yea, Flyers have been an issue for years now. The original 2 versions of My Little Fortress had flying disabled for Pegasi and Alicorns specifically because it was becoming a big issue to have your ponies just die of starvation due to getting stuck on a tree without you noticing.


I re-enabled Flying on them however after an update fixed up their pathing a bit more. For reference they can and will still get stuck, but now so long as they have at least 1 space open next to them, their pathing can typically allow them to get down (it's a 50/50). Sort of like a Running Start to get the flight going I suppose.

Don't know if flight pathing was touched on at all for the Steam Version.

It's worth admitting that the issue with having ponies display correctly most likely comes from the fact that each subtype of pony (Alicorn, Earth, Pegasi and Unicorn), has *tons* of different Castes purely because that's how the original creator made Cutie Marks actually work mechanically.

Every Pony Type has tons of different castes for each different kind of job there could be (Miner's, Farmers, Cooks, Military of different kinds, etc). And then those castes get split into 2 (Male and Female), which then get lists of different cutie marks, of which the game grabs 1 at random to apply.

Also I think there is a bug/error in the raws, the cutie mark/color descriptions become incorporated into color/shape descriptions for the entire worldgen, causing forgotten beasts to generate with thinks like "two cupcakes shaped scales" and the like. i've noticed in other creature raws, color differentiation is stored right in the graphics file instead of in a separate description file, so i might tinker around with them. it would probably make it possible to have sprites that reflect the description of the pony which would be really cool :)

Hi! I've made a set of pony sprites specifically for use with this pack, but don't really know how to go about implementing them in a dynamic nature. If you're interested in the files please hit me up! I'd be happy to contribute them to the mod.
