Description
Built for Reforged Eden 1.9!
Created for the Anvil Community December Designer's Challenge: Halo inspired build

Type: Mid-Lategame CV / Experimental Gunship/Transport
Tier 4, 2.097.255 CPU (Core 9)
Size Class: 11 (11,29)
Unlock Level: 25

Built for CPU and block limits

The Griffin is a No-Compromise mid to lategame combat CV. Comes with heavy Armor and a lot of upgrade potential. Including up to 2x Fusion Cores and 6 very large shield upgrades. The Stock setup is built to hunt drone Nullifiers, and will eat those without much of an issue. It is however an armor tank, at least for the midgame phase, so it will take damage early on. No Farms included, we are farming drones and ziraxian scumbags here.

Heavy components are separated against chaining and all around armor will provide some protection, however armor is much stronger on the front, so keep the baddies in front of your guns, where they belong.

The interior is very much focused on the bare minimum and not necessarily suited to deep space exploration. Some crew quarters and a cantina is the most in luxuries you can experience on this ship. That and exploding enemies.

Note: Use the combat bridge when fighting on armor.

Weapons:
2x Artillery Cannons
8x Adv. Laser Cannons
8x Laser Turrets
2x Positron Beam Turrets
4x Missile Turrets

Equipment:
Full med-tools
Wifi
Fridge
O2 Station
Armor locker
Long-Range Radar
1x Adv. Constructor

Storage:
2x 320k Ammo
6x ca. 500k Storage
Several cargo containers

Shield:
1x Adv. Shield
2x Large Shield capacitor
1x Large Shield charger
Shield capacity 12350, 200 recharge

Inspired by the halo vulture and pelican designs. This ship also comes with an alternative, more Halo-inspire color scheme. The instructions to apply that can be found in the Equipment Workshop on a LCD.

LCDs are modifications from sulusdacors LCD Library, so a big thanks to him for his amazing work!

This may be a good build to convert to RE2. I'd love to check it out if you do.

Ente wirst du dieses Schiff auch RE2 tüchtig machen?

enjoy the ship overall but it has a critical weak point in its design which is easily resolved. the front boarding ramp is right under cpu, once shields are down it is easy for the enemy to get under the nose. once at an angle to shoot out the boarding ramp all that keeps the enemy from powering you down is a singular combat steel block. to fix this i have removed the single boarding ramp and added dual, and made a center column where the boarding ramp used to be and filled it with combat steel blocks and added thin single plates above the ramps for extra protection. other than that critical flaw. its great, and i do believe the original BP should be updated with this fix as this flaw is exposed while you're fighting enemies head on as its meant to. only other way to solve it is to remove the bombardment bridge since its useless anyway and figure out another way to safely add a boarding ramp.

Ah yeah the gammas are a bit special. They do use the dome-type turret model, as the zirax weapons do. All turrets with that model don't have any gun depression, i.e. they can't aim downwards. The normal turrets can aim downwards a few degrees. The dome type turrets on the other hand can hit stuff directly above them.

If you are using dome type turrets, you need to build your ship around that in some ways, which the griffin isn't.
The best way to place gammas is arguably to have them directly on front, so the target is directly above the turret.

The thing there is, it makes ships arguably ugly if you build them in a way that is optimal for dome type weapons. I usually don't use them for that reason and stick to EMP+Heavy Lasers.

Clipwing that I mentioned is a variation of your Monolith:

@Ente Re all top/bottom. Basically, fought a Kamerat with gamma/zirax lasers + positron cannons. Usual bouts to drop shields, then burn through hull. Times to drop shields from bout to bout varied wildly. Like, occasionally, it wouldn't even drop in time and some time it was a piece a cake. Switched to ClipWing with same loadout and it was a piece a cake every time consistently.

So that's how huge impact was of not all gammas firing (every gamma is like 9 normal laser turrets so it is safe to ignore zirax lasers contribution). Granted I am not a good pilot which probably exacerbated this issue.

So when all on top then they all fire to where I am aiming with my positrons (sides are probably OK as well). When some are at bottom, then it depends on how close they are to the edge and the angle ship is at to horizontal plane. So that's my reasoning

I guess i might be a bit to stiff with critics on a ship i use and really like.

Since im playing with a friend, whos done quite a lot of the actuall fighting till drone space came into view, and the Griffin being the first actuall combat-vessel i used which did not blow up quite fast ( due to me still being quite new ), i can say im very happy about it all around.

Maybe i will change my mind, once ive brought other vessels to the field, but for now im a cat guarding my mouse. No touchy xP
