Undying Zeds (Build 41)

Description
Workshop ID: 2876921306
Mod ID: Undying Zeds

Warning: Reanimated zeds will lose their loot data, meaning any items that were on their corpse will be lost when they reanimate. This could be annoying if the corpse was a survivor with tons of gear. Unfortunately, there's no known fix for this.

FAQ
Can I stop zeds from reanimating?
- Yes! If you burn them, bury them, stuff them into a container, drop them in a vehicle, or put them in a bag then they will not reanimate... until you take them out (if they were going to reanimate anyways). Just a warning though, if you're carrying one when it reanimates, it will IMMEDIATELY get up if you put it on the ground. So make sure you don't drop it!

What's going on with the zed heads in the video?
- This mod does has no effect on animations; I simply forgot to turn off a different mod for recording. If you want those wild heads, check out this mod by QualFire: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2590814089

About
Do you want to add a new hardmode element to your game? Unstable Build 41.78 has given us a little bit of control over Fake Dead server settings (world corpses and/or player killed corpses reanimate, or no reanimation), but I wanted MORE control. This mod will let you set the precise chance that a zombie turns Fake Dead on death, and they will reanimate quicker too, up to only 30 game minutes after they die.

This mod was made specifically for multiplayer. It will function in addition to any reanimation settings you have enabled in your sandbox, but will be blocked from working if you disable reanimation in sandbox settings. Note that if you use this mod in Solo play, you will see some weird bugs (see comments).

This mod will work on new or existing servers and it is safe to remove after use. However, any zombies that die while the mod is active will use the mod settings for fake dead, even after you uninstall the mod. Any zombies that die (or die again) after you remove the mod will use your server settings for fake dead.

Thanks for any feedback and bug reports. Have fun! Set the reanimate chance to 100% for ENDLESS fun!

Notes
  • If you are playing on the latest version of the game, there is a new reanimation setting within zombie lore. Make sure this setting does not disable reanimation, or it will also disable this mod.
  • This mod is intended for MP use. It will work in solo play, but all of your resurrections will be crawlers. Unfortunately a fix for this does not currently appear possible.
  • Make sure that you enable this in your main mods screen *as well as* your server/sandbox settings if you want it to work.
  • If you want to play with the length of reanimation times, try out Resurrecting Zeds! Note that RZ is only SP compatible, due to the presumably intentional limitations in PZ's reanimation code.

b42 when?

@Sky Wise Guy thanks for the report! I'm not sure which of those settings is the culprit but if I figure it out and find a fix, I'll update.

Yup adding this to my 'vampire' build.

Found the reason. It works, but only with the "correct" zombie settings. It is affected not only by the resurrection settings, but by everything in general. If I set all zombie settings to random (leave the resurrection parameter by default), the mod stops working.

@SkyWiseGuy I just tested it, seems fine! It sounds like you tried this already, but make sure your normal resurrection settings are set to default. Not sure what else it could be, but if anyone has more tips please chime in

Mod not working anymore?

Last year mod worked fine, but now zombies do not respawn in single or multiplayer. (no other mods; respawn is enabled in settings; mod is set to 100% respawn)

@Nerdi shoot sorry about that! You called it though, unfortunately the sort of black box coded around reanimation prevents me from copying loot data onto the new/animated zed. I'll add a warning to the description, thanks for the report!

Player zombies who die with loot and reanimate without having their loot taken will have no loot when killed for the second time.

My friend died and was reanimated as a zombie, which I killed since I was fighting off his zombie as well as a horde. By the time he came back to collect the loot, he had reanimated, but the zombie had none of his loot (and it was nowhere to be seen).

I'd imagine there's some sort of limitation preventing a fix, but I thought I would bring it up regardless. Great mod, aside from that! Really adds that extra challenge I was trying to make with my hardmode mod collection!

@Josh Nothing from this mod lol, that's just a mod I foolishly left active when I was recording.

Cool mod, but what is going on with the zombie's heads in your video?
