Varied Starting Worlds - CURRENTLY UNSUPPORTED

Description
• I am not active in working on this mod for the moment, anyone is welcome to copy/fork its contents.

• Screenshots taken using Radiant Worlds and Vanilla World Variety. Both are highly recommended with my mod.

Disclaimer

• Please do not use this with mods that change the universe generation of vanilla planets within different star types. I have provided a patch for FU and have also tested this with Arcana. I cannot guarantee that you will end up on a viable planet type if other universe altering mods are used (mods that add their own star types with their own respective planets should cause no issues)

Latest update

• Threat level variation, starting planets can be any tier from 1-2

Description

• Tired of starting on the same boring planet every playthrough ? want your early game to be more exciting ? Then you've come to the right place. This mod allows you to begin your journey on a total of five different planet types. Possible starting planets include-

• Snowy
• Desert
• Savannah
• Lush
• Forest

• Meant to be used with story removal mods such as Sandbox or Story Disabler but a story compatible patch is now available:

Story Patch

What this does

• Adds a new star type 'Moderate'. This is to ensure that players will only end up on planets that I've picked to be viable starting worlds. Every planet here is tier 1-2.

• Removes the garden biome requirement for starting planets.

• Changes the starting planet size to medium. So your character isn't dumped onto a moon with no breathing EPP. Tiny starter worlds suck anyway.

• Does not touch vanilla planets in any way. The planets that spawn within moderate stars are identical replicas of existing planet types.

• Yes I know this allows you to effectively skip a tier as starting worlds have a chance to contain tungsten, this is uncommon though and you'll have to contend with a more difficult start in order to gain access to it.

• Starting systems now only require a Snowy and Lush planet. This combination is impossible within gentle stars and is the bare minimum needed to put players within a moderate star.

• Speeds up the starting system search as the game is now only looking for two planets instead of three.

Compatible

Universe Generation Overhaul- Gentle Start

Frakin' Universe using the FU Patch

Arcana

Not Compatible

• Not compatible with truespace (you can be placed on an impossible starting planet)

• Any mod that adds snowy planets to gentle stars or Lush planets to other stars- this will derail starting system selection.

• Faster start mods- this does similar patches and will conflict.

• Atmosphere plus- patches the universe_server.config.

To do list

• A forums download

• Threat level name for moderate stars

• Reduce planet spawns in moderate stars

• Truespace patch (?)

Extra

• Anyone is free to modify and patch this mod to their own preferences. I will usually provide patches myself if anyone asks for them.

it seems that it haves a bug where some planets dont generate correctly and it directly beams you back to your ship for a some odd reason.

for some reason, i keep getting worlds that aren't tier 1-2, but tier 4 to even 6! And a starting Alien planet in a Hazardous Star!

Its almost always a bad idea to uninstall mods that add new planets or star types. You can try doing it on a copy of the same save (while not within a moderate star) but I can't guarantee it will work

can you uninstall this with no issues?

Hopefully the updated description clears up any confusion for any new subscribers

Mods like truespace are not compatible because they allow regular stars to have lush+snowy planets which is what the mod has the game look for in a starting system, to end up in my custom star type made up of handpicked planet types to spawn in

Thx...I guess the problem is mostly with random planet types? Some people may use mods such as "more realistic universe" or "planetary threat ++", this is not common, I usually let them reset the universe file to solve this problem...

I know this mod hasn't been updated for a long time but nothing should mess it up unless FU itself changed some dungeon ID's

Are they using both the story patch and the FU patch ? Get rid of the story patch if you play with FU, they are not compatible
