(WIP) Ultimate F1 Retro Season Mod - Season 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002

Description
Work in progress...! This beta version is limited to the start of 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002 season. Full mod will include the hole time period from 1995 to 2002.

***mod version is now: v.0.41.9***

Bug fixes, AI improvements and livery change for AI

Please note that the tire wear indicator currently shows a value that is too high. Correcting this is not easy. We will look at this later.

Please read the manual in the steam mod folder to learn how you can choose the starting year.

Use a clean installation and no other mods!

If you need to reinstall the game, start it once without downloading the mod. This prevents a bug that occurs when selecting 2D or 3D mod. Then quit the game, download the mod and follow the instructions.

Please read the installation instructions carefully. You can find them at

Do you long for the days when Formula One still seemed like real motorsport? Without cars that run like they're on rails or buttons you can press to easily overtake the car in front? Who needs 2024 when you can play some of the best years in Formula 1?

Have you ever dreamed of standing on the podium with Minardi or scoring a World Championship point with Forti Corse?

Do you want to sign rookies like Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel or Max Verstappen's father?

Have you ever wanted to work with Formula One legends like Ricardo Rosset, Giovanni Lavaggi or Taki Inoue?

Have you always wanted to know how it feels to have to cope with a double retirement?

Then you've come to the right place. The "Ultimate F1 Retro Season" mod is designed to convey the motorsport of the late 90s and early 2000s.

All the teams, drivers, engines, tyre manufacturers and sponsors of the best years of Formula One history. Points for the first six. Reliability issues. Car development that really affects performance.

Please read the installation instructions carefully. You can find them at

Hi NeoNeMeSiS,

at the moment it is not possible to change the team names during the game. Save game editors do not work with our mod, as the save structures have been changed by us.

We are planning to introduce team changes. However, this is not at the top of the current to-do list.

Have fun!

Hey, i have a little question. I start the save in 1996 and now i'm in the season 1998, so the skins for the other teams change but the logos and the names stay the sames. I think it's normal, but there is some way to change that without start a new one?

Hello everyone,

the next update is approaching. I wanted to give you a preview of the upcoming changes.

- new playable season: 1995
- the new season will include special events for many teams to tell the story of the 1995 season in more detail
- complete re-balancing of the difficulty levels (please refer to the manual)
- Bug fix: Vanilla does not take into account the acquired tyre and session bonuses; until now it did not matter whether you used the bonuses or not, they had no influence
- Changes to some interview consequences
- Refuelling trait of mechanics has been adjusted

After this update we will rework the other seasons and add 1997, 1999 and 2001.

Have fun!

Hi NeoNeMeSiS,,

differing information on the service life of the tyres is still on our to-do list. Calculating this data is complicated and is not currently at the top of our list, but we will take care of it. For now, you'll have to do some trial and error to see how long your tyre lasts.
NeoNeMeSiS Jun 9 @ 1:44pm
Hey, ok so it's just i'm bad a the game, and i little last question. It's normal when a tyre says the tire live it's 30 laps, but after 20 laps i need to change the tires? Thanks for all the help

Hi NeoNeMeSiS,

so far, that should be fine.
Repairs to the car generally take longer. So you should think twice about repairing a wing if it is not significantly damaged.
The engine has the greatest influence on the performance of your car, but is also the most expensive car. And the further developments have no effect on the next season.
The rest is strategy, and I can't offer you a solution. :)

Just this much: AI teams have no advantages.

Hey thanks for your time, so i use difficulty 0 (in the middle), and for the positions at the end of the race goes between P7 to P10 and for the temperature of the tires, i trien to keep in the middle of the temperature bar

Hi NeoNeMeSiS,

first of all: Which difficulty level do you use? We are actually reworking the difficulty options, your mod version still uses the vanilla options.
Next question: What do you mean by "soooooo slow"? Which results do you have after a race normally?
Last question: Do you check the temperatures of your tyres? If they overheat (in attack mode) you loose all benefits you get from selected tyres and driving style.

Have fun!

Hey, i don't know what i'm doing wrong, but i'm sooooo slow. I pick Ferrari 1996 and i do the same pushs mode as normal but i every body pass me easy and if i want to keep up the pace, i need to set mode attack all the time. As i said i don't know what i'm doing wrong. It's normal or there is something i don't know? Thanks for your help
