[HDI] CTV-386-ATLAS

Description
Manufacture: [HDI] Hephaestus Defense Industries

Utility: Civilian Transport Vessel

Class: Unlisted

Reg #: 386

Designation: ATLAS

The Atlas is a common design used in the Artemis System by civilians for a number of roles.

Lightly armed with 2 autocannon turrets, 1 gatlin turret, and 2 fixed autocannons; the Atlas can offer some defense against pursuing parties while traveling between regulated areas but is not designed for active ship to ship combat.

Interior facilities include seating for up to 10 passenger with 3 separate console seats for pilots and decent leg room inside allows for a somewhat comfortable area to inhabit for short flights. Be that over terrain or space. On board artificial mass blocks allows the ship to properly align itself in low grav environments when landing, docking, or just trying to remain in lock step with a planet/moon. On board survival kit allows players to respawn on the vessel, top off on h2/o2 and heal minor injuries.

Inner cargo hold located at the rear offers players the ability to transport separated cargo containers as needed, access internal storage, and perform a number of other activities. While not big enough to house a rover of any significant size, it is able to bring all the necessary materials and parts needed to build one.

Top mounted connector allows the ship to dock and refuel/restock/reload the ship as needed with ease and speed.

Lateral docking access to the ship allows the Atlas to link up with a station that has the supporting small grid docking apparatus for easy of access/egress. While not able to transfer anything directly in this manner, it does allow passengers some much needed leg room via access to the main station.

Retracting landing gear allows the ship to fly in atmosphere without causing undue drag from exposed moving parts. Rear Thrust flaps help protect the thrusters from incoming fire but can also function as articulating wind breaks to help slow down ship velocity in a pinch if you play with the mod that governs wind resistance. (It's fun and challenging. Makes you rethink how you build ships :)).

Rear access to the cargo hold is done via a ramp with outside controls available for players outside the ship. It will spawn in with the ramp locked in place to prevent movement during flight. The access panel on the lower left side can deactivate the lock and then reverse the hinge that the ramp rests on. It is designed to stop at the same elevation as the landing gear for a smooth transition.

It should be noted that the design of this ship takes heavily from the Constellation from Star Citizen and some elements from the Cutlass black (mainly the cargo hold). This is not an attempt to do a recreation. I simply wanted something that resembled it since I like both ships and wanted to be able to crash them, fly them, and generally do stupid things without consequence. Hope you enjoy and if you have any questions, complaints, or general criticism, please leave a comment and I will try to address it when possible.

I want to either update this design or make another ship but a little bigger in the same general vein to keep to the same look.

This ship is gorgeous. I'd love to see a remodeled "Explorer Edition" designed for autonomous long-range use (jump, cargo, lite production, and so on).

Well sadly the Constellation is much bigger and has more to it than my little thing. Star Citizen is a hell of a game.

Thank you!

I think you might have made a better ship than what this is based off of. Well done sir!
