@PineScentX through the years I have seen A3's with both the fixed A2 carry-handle, and flat tops with optics, particularly in Seabee battalions.

As for the handguards, you are 100% correct. I've always seen them exclusively with the A2 handguard.. however, do bear in mind that it is a very easy task to replace the handguards.

Hate to be that guy but the M16A3 has a fixed carryhandle like the A2 and does not have a quadrail.
