[OBSOLETE] Legend Craft - Melee Weapons

Description
The new Legend Craft Evolved mod is out for B41/42! The B41 version has the ability to convert this mod's weapons to the new format. Unlike this mod, it is compatible with many major weapon mods and all tool-weapons maintain their full tool functionality. You can check it out here!

CURRENT VERSION: 1.5.2 (8/30/22)

Combine duplicates into overpowered weapons with a hammer and some nails (with a minimum level in weapon proficiency for that class of weapon).

There are five tiers of improvements that can be made and the fifth tier makes the weapon indestructible (unless the Make Legend Weapons Destructible option has been selected from the sandbox options menu). Each level can increase damage, reach, max condition, durability, crit chance, knockback - and for applicable weapons - tree damage, door damage, and knockdown. There are also reductions in weight.

Part 1 of my Legend Craft series of mods - you can check out Guns & Grenades here if you like.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Since there are multiple versions of the electric bass, electric guitar, shovel, and sledgehammer items, there are recipes to freely convert incompatible versions of those weapons into the type that can be used for a II tier item. All following upgrades will accept any version of those items. These are called Standardize recipes in the mod.

V1.3 NOTE: Upon crafting the legend tier version, electric guitars and bass can be freely changed between black, blue, and red varieties while shovels and sledgehammers can be changed between their two appearance varieties. This could only be added for the highest tier as the swaps would result in unlimited free repairs for lower tier items.

V1.3.1 NOTE: A bug was found involving the legend tier items, which are intended to be indestrucible, taking damage when used for certain tool functions. An inventory menu option to Heal Legend Item has been added in the event that a legend item is not at max condition - this works even if the item is broken. This option is not available if Make Legend Weapons Destructible has been selected.

V1.4 NOTE: The damage increase that is applied to upgrade levels can now be customized in the Custom Sandbox options screen upon starting a new game (default options are loaded if update is applied or mod is loaded mid-game). The first four tiers are determined by a % number and the legend tier is determined by a multiplier - these figures apply to min damage values while the vanilla item's damage range is preserved. The default values are 50% and 10x and can be adjusted 5%-100% and 2x-20x - it is recommended to keep a 5:1 ratio of these two values for intended balancing except for % values of less than 10% to which the minimum 2x would be optimal. There is also the ability to enable durability for legend tier weapons, which are indestructible by default, with the Make Legend Weapons Destructible check box. The condition lower chance values of these legend items are scaled with their lower tier counterparts.

Spears are upgraded by combining a crafted spear and compatible blade of equal levels (Crafted Spear III + Fork III = Spear with Fork III). To upgrade, the leveled blade must be reclaimed from the spear, combined with a matching blade for the upgrade, and then re-combined with a new crafted spear of equal level.

LEVEL NEEDED TO UPGRADE:
II - Lv. 1 (0 for short blade)
III - Lv. 2 (1 for short blade)
IV - Lv. 4 (2 for short blade)
V - Lv. 6 (3 for short blade)
Legend - Lv. 8 (4 for short blade)

B 42?

@Copy cat I’m afraid not. Only the weapon’s name changes and a little tag is placed over the weapon’s icon to make upgrades stand out better. Even if I designed reskins for all vanilla items, that would be a tremendous amount of textures considering you can upgrade a weapon to Mark 10 by default in the new Evolved mod (and higher if desired), but since it can also handle modded weapons, there would be no way to extend that to them as well.

Will the appearance of the newly released mode change according to the stages?

Legend Craft Evolved is now available in the Workshop. While there’s still lots of work to be done for a while, I tested the hell out of it and felt confident that it is stable enough to share as a 1.0 version. Perhaps you’ll want to give it a try in a new playthrough first, but it does have a feature that recognizes weapons from this mod and the LC gun mod and converts them to the new format for existing saves. I’m going to be celebrating tonight, but tomorrow, I can work on any hot fixes if needed. Cheers!

Update: B42 done for real this time. I wasn’t happy with how the mod recognized its own items for handling, so I gave it a needed overhaul. Also included tweaks for Rain’s Tools & Axes (made certain dual form weapons cross-compatible for upgrade) and compatibility with Inventory ReImagined. The new mod will, however, be incompatible with Inventory Tetris on release, but I should be able to fix that with a later update. All that’s left is finishing touches on B41, complete an instructional how-to .txt for the mod folder, design an icon for B42, and write the description. Will be English only for 1.0 but translations will be added. Aiming for a US-time Saturday afternoon/evening release. I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out, but one person can only do so much testing. So here’s to hoping it’s not a dumpster fire full of hidden bugs! 🍻

Update: the new mod is virtually done. Some cleaning up on B41, another round of testing, and write a description - that’s all that’s left. To be clear, this new mod replaces both this and the G&G mod, but there will be the ability to convert this mod’s weapons into the new format. The stats may come out weird for legend weapons or if you upped this mod’s values from the default, but they’ll still be quite powerful, if not even more so. Also, the new mod has like 60 sandbox options, so lots of customization ability. Additionally, there’s a lightweight companion mod for those that want to uninstall mid-playthrough. The new mod leaves upgraded weapons as artifacts, so the 2nd mod reverts them back to regular and refunds duplicates used in the upgrade. I’ll post the full details tomorrow either here or to Reddit if I think I can get this out for the weekend. Probably best suited for new playthroughs at first. It’s also not multiplayer tested, but it will be soon. Cheers!
