Description
Originally designed for mining and recovery missions, it was repurposed to house the FFAB12 Fission Regulator Prototype, the forerunner of the fission controllers we know today.

- This submarine is 100% vanilla, it doesn't require any mod. - This submarine is very optimized for performance. My potato PC can handle me and my friends playing on it. - This submarine has been thought for a group of players from 4 to 11+ players, and to make beginners able to learn the ropes of the game from it, while still giving veterans a challenge.

Statistics

  • Class : Deep-Diver
  • Crew : 4-11
  • Price : 8500 mk
  • Max horizontal speed : 26 km/h
  • Max vertical speed : 19 km/h
  • Size : 44 m x 13 m
  • Cargo capacity : 26 crates
  • Starting items : Low
  • Drone : None

Main features

  • A reactor with needs : Bored of the Auto-Reactors, but still not wanting to use the crappy one included in your reactor ? Try out the "new" FFAB12 Fission Regulator Prototype !

  • You will need to use the terminal to take care of it, or trouble may arise !

  • Deployable external cargo hold : No need to go through the airlock a hundred times while looting a wreck !

  • Modular ballast anti-flora system : Press the lever, and the ballast will deactivate itself after drying itself, allowing easy removal of ballast flora. But this simple system is wirable, and there might be some detonator to wire to the system to make it even easier...

  • Secured depth charge launchers : No more nuclear incidents ! If the light is red, the Depth Charge can't be fired ! The Captain is able to know how many depth charges are active thanks to some lights on his navigation terminal.

Other features

This submarine also features a lot of standard things to find on a submarine :

  • Auto-batteries : The batteries will automatically take over when the reactor doesn't output anything. This system can be turned off.
  • Fabricators : This submarine features everything you need fabrication-wise : a fabricator, a deconstructor, a medical fabricator, and a research stations
  • Non-perfect weapon coverage : Some dangerous blindspots, especially the airlock. Additionnally, the railgun is not swappable, and the periscopes are in two separated gunnery compartments.
  • Manual alarm system : The Captain is able to turn all the ship's lights red, to make the crew move their asses faster.
  • Passenger transport room : Enjoy it as a crew, or lock it when transporting passengers !

Additional notes

  • Rewirability : With the sole exception of the reactor set_turbineoutput and set_fissionrate entry pins, every visible item can be rewired. The rest of the reactor pins can be acceded through the relays in front of it. The submarine wiring can also be improved in several ways, if an engineer take some time to look at it.
  • Compatibility with bots : The bots are able to repair everything, but are also able to store every game item in its corresponding locker.
  • Room security : Although there are secured lockers, the room themselves are not id secured, but can be locked from the inside.
  • Reboot system : Although the reactor terminal has integrated anti-bugs, if it still crash, please report it to me, and try the Reboot to un-bug it.

Special thanks :

After two years of not playing Baro, I'm back. I will try to update this sub ! (or I will make a new version of it).

FYI : The reactor is 100% vanilla, is just a heavily, heavily modified version of an old autoreactor (which dont work today if I understood correctly)

The constant reactor alarm is related to the Hazardous Reactors mod, and given the complexity of this reactor, the original author is probably the one who is going to have to troubleshoot and fix it.

Does anyone know if this custom reactor works with Enhanced reactors? or if they will conflict in anyway

There’s a constant reactor alarm going off, any idea how to turn it off?

I like the vibe of this submarine.

The aesthetics on this sub are amazing, and it's a really tight design. Like all of Renko/Sombra's work, it's among the best of the best.

There's one serious flaw in this one, though, and it starts to gnaw at you, especially single-player. That's the airlock. There's only one airlock, and it's slow and bot-unfriendly. I understand that's a purposeful downside to balance out other good features of the sub, but here's the problem:

Go into the airlock with a bot on follow. Stand next to him. Good. Press the button to open the bottom hatch so you can go outside. Water rushes in, slamming both you and the bot up against the top. The bot then always activates the upper override button (apparently reaching through the closed door), opening the top hatch and closing the bottom one. You then have to climb back up out of the airlock, turn that button off, then climb back down and try again.

Sometimes you can get away with it, but the real consequence is you must always go out one at a time so the bot doesn't keep trolling you by slamming the door on you as you try to exit. You go outside on your own, put your character on don't-move, then switch control and have your bot follow you.

Yeah, you can work around it, but it becomes tedious, and the slowness of it compounds it.

(If it was just slow and that's it, I wouldn't complain -- but the bot problem makes it extra tedious.)

In the end, I'm not an advocate of anti-ergonomics as a balancing mechanism. I'd love to see the airlock problem fixed in this one.
