After the Third World War in 2037, even though the countries of South America were not hit by any atomic weapons during the war, after the conflict the world's economy went into a deep crisis due to the destruction of the great powers. In 2040, the heads of state of Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia met at the Buenos Aires Conference where they decided to merge into a single nation to ensure the survival of their economies, the union became known as the Confederação do Trópico Sul (CTS) in portuguese.

The Confederation of the Southern Tropic is a federal parliamentary republic where the president is the head of estate and the chancellor is the head of government. The capital being the city of Buenos Aires.

Development Phase (2042-2050)
- In 2042, Uruguay and Paraguay decided to join CTS
- In 2044, CTS started to have its own official currency: the Peso-Real
- In 2045, after some negociantions Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru agreeded to join CTS
- In 2047, the country enters a phase of great economic growth
- In 2049, the Guyanas were invaded and annexed to CTS territory
- In 2050, CTS intervened in the Venezuelan Civil War resulting in its annexation

Consolidation Phase (2050-2059)
- In 2050, CTS opens diplomacy with the new governments of the former super powers that were recovering from the destruction of WW3
- In 2051 the CTS Space Force is created
- In 2053, installation of a lunar base and expeditions to Mars
- In 2057, in cooperation with European and Asian countries, the Martian Space Station is built in order to serve as a hub for mining operations in the Asteroid Belt
- In 2058, the First Belt Treaty is signed by 9 countries where the Asteroid Belt was divided into sectors for exclusive exploration of the signatory countries to avoid another war

Second Falklands War (2059-2061)
- In 2059 the Second Falklands War took place between CTS and the New British Empire with heavy casualties for both sides
- In 2060, with the British worried about the strengthening of Germany and France, they decided to make a deal with CTS to end the war
- In 2061, the countries reached an agreement, the New British Empire cedes the islands in exchange for CTS to pay a compensation to all British citizens living in the Falklands who have had to leave their homes and return to England

Present Time (2061-2077)
- In 2061 with the end of the war against the New British Empire, CTS begins to invest in expeditions to the moons of Jupiter
- In 2066, an outpost is built on Ganymede
- In 2069, with a new arms race between European countries, CTS invests in increasing the number of ships in its space fleet
- In 2074 the CTS, the United Republics of Africa and the Empire of the Rising Sun try to appease the European powers with a new agreement to explore the Asteroid Belt
- In 2077, the Second Belt Treaty is signed by 17 nations, tensions between Europeans have lowered but the arms race continues...
