[SCR] Charon Assault Ship

The "Charon" Class Assault Ship is built to carry marines and shuttles for said marines, it's very specialized for support, boarding, anti-insurgency and assault. It's a relatively old design sitting between ships like the Adrastea and Amalthea in terms of age.


This vessel was mainly built for the Marines with it's external frame dominated by a relatively large flight deck capable of landing 2 shuttles or 1 large transport, it also has a side dock for larger transports or docking. In order to support it's marines it has a very spacious interior with crew quarters, cryo-bays, a medical bay, a briefing room, engineering deck, auxiliary engine room, flight deck assess, bridge, computer room, and observation deck. Notably it can also fly in atmosphere and carry a decent amount of cargo internally or drop larger craft externally.

Doctrine:

The Charon is limited by it's lack of internal vehicle storage which is exchanged for support capability in the command role and increased capability in space compared to in atmo, The ship is intended to use it's shuttles to disembark troops and supplies acting as the hands of the craft while moving heavier cargo itself. It can also be used as a mobile command site either from orbit with a relay craft or from a landed position on world.


This assault ship, Aptly named "Charon" after the ancient figure that ferried souls to Hades transports marines, its deign was a compromise between the SMC (Sol Marine Corps) and SCRN (Sol Constitutional Republic Navy) thus the lack of internal vehicle transport capability and Balaur compatibility.


This is an ACTUAL assault ship, as in troops, Marines, Ground Pounders, Jarheads, Red shirts, whatever the hell you call guys with rifles and boots on the ground not some dinky gunboat or gunship or frigate or some bs but an actual assault ship, a good one? debatable but it fits the actual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ definition.
