Description

[03/26/2022]: v1.0

A small add-on for Expanded Materials that adds cheap repair kits that can be made of steel and tin, which will add another use to tin and will let you save those precious components.

I plan to update this mod to add more repair kits for spacer tech, in case you find it too OP, and also because the repair kit sprite was made like two years ago and it kinda sucks by my current abilities...

When there's no available repair kits, the text says "No components". This isn't a bug, that text is kinda hardcoded so I just skipped patching it.

Q: Save game compatible?
A: Should be, but I haven't tested it so please backup your games before adding this mod.

Q: I require a version that doesn't need that bloaty mess you call Expanded Materials - Metals
A: Done already, you no longer need EM - Metals.

Graphics, xml and C# by me, Argón, the one and only uwu

Rimworld is of course owned by Tynan Sylvester (didn't ya know, pal?)

If you feel generous, clicking on any of these buttons will likely raise my dopamine levels 1% higher, so do it for all those follks who wish to have a standalone version.

woah hey, with something like this I might actually not disable breakdowns! Maybe...

Thanks! Your kind words mean a lot to me <3

I think that's a fantastic idea! It makes a lot of sense actually: If you've not got the means to repair a damaged part, but need the machine running again nonetheless, your next option is to replace the damaged part. It should probably be an opt-in mod setting, just so people don't all of a sudden start using up their components when they run out of solder without realising!

Thanks so much for being onboard with my suggestion! You're easily one of the best modders in the community. Keep being awesome :)

Maybe not the best idea, but I can actually modify the mod so that it would admit both the components and the solder. With the latter taking priority in case of having both in storage. That way, it won't cause conflicts with other mods.

Hey Argon, I'm not sure if this is something you'd be willing to do but thought I'd mention it anyways. I'm anticipating this mod being incompatible with SoS2 in such that the shield generator is normally repaired using components, so all enemy ships spawn with some components in storage. This mod will make those components useless to enemies, and their shields unrepairable. The SoS2 team mentioned it's probably possible to make a patch to replace the components on ships with solder, or my suggestion is it may be easier to just omit the few types of shield generators from this mod's purview.

It would be amazing if you could help to resolve this as I thoroughly enjoy both mods and don't want to give up either of them! Thanks :)

I removed the dependency some time ago. If you don't have EM - Metals they just cost steel.

How do you craft these without either EM Metals mod? Does it just cost steel, or steel and something else? I'm not a fan of EM Metals personally, but I do love these kits.

Ok, thank you for the quick response.

afaik, fluffy's mod only delays the breakdown by making you have to maintain it so I suppose it should
