Sinews of War - More Cultural Names

More Cultural Names

Description

This is a mod for various strategy games, that makes province names change their name dynamically, to one that fits the culture of the faction that controls them.

In the common database (for all the supported games), there are currently over 180.000 names for various languages, themes and time periods.

The names are meant to provide an immersive and authentic experience for the game's setting and time period.
However, if there are no names for a specific language for this context, names from other time periods, or even from very closely related languages, will be used instead, as long as they make sense and are a good fit.

yeah i also got confused because of that, like why is a barony in russia named the same as one in carpathia? anyways, thx for the explanation bud

@gr8_hate This is actually the vanilla SoW naming. In SoW without MCN, b_targoviste's default name is Târgoviște and b_bucuresti's default name is Tîrgoviște

Also I can't find any c_camplung in SoW, only c_bucuresti (whose default name is also Tîrgoviște)

As far as I understand (but it's an assumption), Bucharest was removed entirely in SoW (just as it was also removed in vanilla CK3) and the same title IDs were instead reused for Tîrgoviște (and Solbozia barony and Ialomița county in vanilla CK3)
There are multiple other cases of this even in vanilla, where locations were removed but their IDs were reused for other completely different locations (which is very confusing sometimes). So, instead of relying on title ids, I always rely on their default name instead.

apologies, i made a mistake. I meant the county barony capital of c_camplung targoviste having the same name as an entire county just right below it.

Why is Târgoviște assigned as the name for Bucharest when its already the name for a county " c_targoviste " in the uppermost duchy of the k_dacia(romania). I think the normal version of this mod has it has Ialomita or something like that.

@Eldritch Thrumming unfortunately, given how the game implements cultural names, this would only be possible if I create a separate version of this mod with those localisations missing. Which I'm not too keen on doing as I'd rather keep the variants to the minimum and thus be able to support more different mods.

@The Moon is Cheese Would be cool to see a setting in the pregame that lets you disable the new names for duchy tier and above. I love this mod on the granular small-scale level but not a fan of the larger titles all being different

@The Moon is Cheese Not that you care but as a first-time CK player, i'm pretty proud of myself. Started as the Rani in 867, have created the Kingdoms of Pòmòrskô and Sorbia, am holding Novgorod and Plock (and Rugia/Arkona of course). Damn this game is awesome haha.

Ah ok, yeah using both was definetely the problem. Glad you got it working!

@The Moon is Cheese Just checking in to tell you that i'm a dumdum. I was using base MCN with the compatches for Ibn and SoW, didn't realize that one version is enough, i thought it was like in most other games where you need a base version mod and stack a submod or comp mod on top. Cheers and thank you again for your work.
