here you can find things, that didn't fit in my others guides...

The guide is quite long,
so it takes a little time to read it,
please take some minutes for it, now or later...
Get something to drink, grab snacks, your blanket and enjoy it. ;p

03 - How to find out playtimes

It gives 4 sources for this informations:
1. Steam group
2. Discord
3. Website
4. Servers

General playtimes:
It gives big games in 2 time zones: Europe and/or America.
The games are on Saturday evening.

It gives Pub's (public games) and PUG's (games according to a certain set of rules).
Players on a password server play a PUG, they are organized via the discord channel.
(Join the Discord channel, add the PUG-roll and read the PUG-game rules)

Saturday games are always public games.
(PUGs are almost only played in front of tournament participants for training purposes)

1. Steam group chat:

Here is the invitation for the chat from the Steam group 'Dystopia Pickup Games'.
You can also go yourself to Dystopia Pickup Games and press "Enter chat room".
Here you get a notification when you are online and a moderator call for a game.

I'm a moderator of this group.
As far as I could, I always wrote a "@online"-message on every Saturday,
at 7pm/19o'clock UTC. (EveryTimeZone[everytimezone.com])
(Then everyone who was online with a activated alarm-setting,
got a automatic pop-up message!) woheeew \o/ ^^
(It would be good if there were moderators online who could do that...)

2. Discord:

Here is the invitation[discord.com]for the Discord group "Dystopia getDraftet".
The Discord channel has a automatic "Role"-information system.
If there are 6 players on the server, the pub role will get mentioned in #tacscan.
You can get the pub role in the #roles channel.
(This group is also used to register for the annual Dystopia "getDraftet"-tournament) ;-)

Important information:
The Steam group chat and Discord are to be considered independently of each other!!
A call for a game, may come from Discord without being announced in the Steam group chat!
And there may be a call for a game in the Steam group chat, without being notified in Discord!
So, better is to join both! My priority is the Steam group chat... I don't have Discord...) ^^

3. Website:

Look at SteamDBinfo[steamdb.info] that shows a graph of,
when games were played in the past and what time the games were in the past.
From this you can then also derive when games take place. ;o)
(Sampling points are hourly, timezone is 'UTC')

4. Server-check:

Way 1: (need a visible Steam window)

34 - For new players

Basics:

The game has 2 playable plains (worlds).
The real world (meatspace/physical body) and the virtual world (cyberspace/avatar body).
If you want to go into cyberspace, you must seek a JIP and wear a cyberspace implant.
Cyberspace has its own gravity and weapons.

The goal of the game is to conquer objects/objectives.
There are always several objectives to conquer.
The objectives are individual of each map.
The objectives can be in meatspace and cyberspace.
Additional things (sub-objects) can also be hacked in cyberspace.

Depending on the server, there is one or two rounds to play.
You have up to 20 minutes to reach the target.

You will be resurrected (cloned) on revival platforms (spawn pads) during a round if you die.
The spawn pads are linked to the object.
Once you have conquered an object, you will be revived at the spawn pads of this object.
This is how the game progresses. Some objectives can be recaptured.

The two groups face each other in the game are: The Security guards and the Punks.
Friendly fire is always activated.

There are 3 player classes: Heavys, Mediums and Lights.
There are 4 different weapons for each class (plus a total of 3 additional cyberspace weapons).
Each weapon has also a second weapon function.
Primary/secondary weapons can be recharged at ammo dispensers during gameplay.
Every player has also a pistol (secondary weapon), a melee weapon and grenades.

There are implants, they have special functions/capabilities.
In total there are 14 selectable implants.
The number and type of wearable implants depends on the class.
The implants can be used as long as you have energy.
Energy recharges itself automatically.
Your available resources are health, armor and energy.

There are 19 official maps and further maps from the community.
Officially there are 'objective maps' ("dys_") and 'phistball maps' ("pb_").
Phistball maps are sports maps, here you have to get a ball into a goal.

Important keys are:
M = Ingame Menu for choose teams/class/weapons/implants.
F-Keys = Activates the different implants.
K = Tactical respawn.
Y/Z = Global chat (to write with the other players)
V = Voicecom (ready-made commands)

Additional Information:

The game is active and still being played.
Unfortunately, there is no permanent play on the servers.
We mainly play coordinated on saturday evening.

There are pub's (public server) and PUG's (Pick-Up-Game, special rules, password server).
The game has a matching soundtrack/music.
There have been annual tournaments since 2021.
All official maps can be selected/played via the game's main menu.
Unfortunately, bots do not work.

How do I get into the game?:

- Play the tutorial at game main menu.

07 - Dystopia universe

We are in a dystopian world.
The world is dominated by megacorporations and high tech world spanned computer networks.

We serve as combat clones.
It gives two warring factions, the oppressed renegades (the 'Punks'),
and the private security contractors (the 'Corps').

We fight through the physical world to gain access, via jack-in terminals (JIPs), to cyberspace.
The cyberspace is a three dimensional representation of the world's network.
Inside cyberspace we will launch programs to hack into systems
linked to the physical world while fighting off enemy hackers and defending critical systems.
Our missions progresses through inter-linked physical and cyberspace objectives,
some are completed in either the physical world or cyberspace,
others only by a well timed combination of the two.

Whether you are a heavily augmented combat mercenary
armed to the teeth with the latest in firepower,
or a twitch reflex cyberdecker racing to infiltrate a cyberspace node.
You will be immersed in an action packed battle!
Only through skillful use of the high tech arsenal, that the big bosses making available.
Intelligent team play will captivate you and maybe bring us the win.
For the company! For freedom!

Our military defens or pirate missions are asymmetrical and objective driven.
We usually only have a small time window for our combat mission.
The generally known time is about 20 minutes.
Every mission contains a sequence of objectives.
Each of these objectives is unique, located in its own area,
and associated with multiple interactive devices...

9 1/2 - Terms & Abbreviations

Here you find some useful terminologys,
to understand conversations immediately. ;)

@online = A moderator command, for a call for a game, for 'PUG Group Chat'. (c below)
Bassi = Basilisk (Weapon)
Brute = The name of the car in Dystopia (unfortunately no longer drivable).
Bunny-hop = Fast jumps/movement when you use the leg booster (it's a trickjump)(bhop).
Confettigun = Shotgun (Weapon)
Console = Window at main menu where u can do callvotes for maps etc. (Developer console)
CS-Weapon: Hitscan = Like a laser shot (unlimited range - immediately - charge time)
⠀   ⠀     ⠀   Shaft = Like a electical beam (limited range - immediately - no charge time)
⠀   ⠀     ⠀   Projectile = Like a bullet (unlimited range - with flight duration - charge time)
Cyber-Shard = The piece/crystal that remains in cyberspace after you have defeated an enemy.
Meatspace & Cyberspace = The two playable worlds you can move in.
⠀ ⠀ │ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀   └> The virtual world, where you need a Cyber-implant for.
⠀ ⠀ └> The physical world.
Doorzilla = This means a closing door that kills you. (and it's also a map secret) ;-)
Dopefish = A model of a little green fish with 2 big tooth. ^^ (decoration/map-object)
Dysi = Short form of Dystopia
Dys_coins = Stake that can be placed before the tournament starts (only on twitch).
Fatty = Heavy (Player class)
Getdrafted = The name of the Dystopia tournament series.
Goomba'd = A kill with a Legbooster (Origin: Mario kills Goombas when he jumps on her) ^^
Heavy-Decker = A Heavy that guards a JIP (with or without a decking jipper)
Hacker, Decker, Jipper = A player that use a JIP. (the implant has the name "Cyberdeck")
Hacking, decking, jipping = The verb of the activity when you/they are in cyberspace.
Hamsterball = A model of a hamster in a Hamster ball (decoration/map-secret).
Helper text pop-up = Nice additional pop-up map infos (options>multiplayer>advanced)
Hitbox = The game-mechanic box-area, of a player model, that count bullet-hits.
Hoovy = Heavys (Player class)
Katana = The melee sword weapon (The real name of a japanese longsword)
Koopa = Punk Light player (The Models backside looks like a shell from a turtle)(from me)^^
Leggis = Leg Booster (Implant)
LOL-kill = 1hp left and get a collision-hit by a granadelauncher-grenade. (Thanks atomy!)
Longtana = A Katana from a Medium player is a little bit longer as from a light player.
Mana = Energy (because its blue, like the blue mana in fantasy games) ^^ (from BenikeMer)
Meater = A player in meatspace (from the mindset when you are in cyberspace). ^^
Meatlock = Map dys_broadcast, 3.Obj, a special cyberspace-button that locked a door.
Minigame = The patch with buttons on a cyberdoor-hack, where you can hack it faster.
Nades = Grenades (Weapon)
Ninja = Stealther (Light player with Stealth implant)
Phistball = A game typ of Dystopia. It gives extra maps for that (pb_rooftop, pb_round etc.)
Phistball: Juggler = Keeps players airborne by punching them. (only by heavys)
Pingpong = When an object is recaptured multiple times by both teams.
Plushies = These are the little heavy-plushies you can find on some maps. :D
Pokeballlauncher = Grenadelauncher (The round grenades look like Pokeballs from 'Pokémon')
Projectile jump = When you shot in CS a projectile to the ground and jump -you jump higher. ;D
PUG Group Chat = The chat from the Steam group "Dystopia Pickup Games"
Ragetroops = Most used european server (Ragetroops is the name of the clan)
Shotty = Shotgun (Weapon)
Smarties = Smartlock Pistols (Weapon) (also called 'Dual Pistols')
Spider Tank = A model of a tank with legs, like a spider.
Tactical suicide = A suicide for maybe a 'fall back respawn' when lose object, or 1hp left etc.
Tactical respawn = A suicide for maybe a 'fall back respawn' when lose object, or 1hp left etc.
Teddy = The name from a Spider Grenade in a retro Dystopia-Comic. (Is the inventor 'Teddy'?)
Thermal penguin = A funny bug where a player model looks in neon colors. ^^
Voicecomm = A menu, where you can have ready-made voice commands pronounced.

AR = Assault Rifle (Weapon)
Cap = Capture (Object capture)
CS = Cyberspace
DDT = Dystopia Drafted Teams Tournament
DGL = Dystopia Global League
EMP = Electromagnetic pulse (EMP Grenades) (EMP[en.wikipedia.org])
FF = Friendly fire (it's possible that teammates can hurt each other, allways active)
GL = Grenade launcher (Weapon)
HDR = High Dynamic Range (settings for change light/neon effect)
HUD = Head Up Display
HP = Health points
ICE = Intrusion Countermeasure Electronics (Used in cyberspace)
JIP = Jack-In-Point (That's what the terminals are called, where you can go into cyberspace)
LR = Laser Rifel (Weapon)
MOTD = Message of the day (Server plugin, when you join a server, you will see a info window)
Pub = Public game (all can play together on a open public server)
PUG = Pick-up-game (game type, mostly password protected server) look at the PUG-Guide.
RTV = Rock the vote (Server plugin, with RTV you can vote maps over a menu)
TAC = Tactical Scanner (Implant)
TK = Teamkill (intentionally or unintentionally)
v51 = A key combination for a "Voicecomm", this one is "Good game" (key: "v" > "5" > "1").

The Dystopia Lore

Over time, the Dystopia gaming community has considered developing backstories,
including from the mappers of the maps themselves. :)

This information has all been stored in the Dystopia wiki page.
Unfortunately, the old Dystopia wiki page has gone offline.
But fortunately the page has been preserved/saved previously in an archival page! \o/

The Dystopia wiki page also contains a lot of other information!
It's a real contemporary testimony. ^^

How the web archive org site works:
You can change the saving times at the top of the screen.
The wiki page has been saved more often.
This means that different information advances may have been saved at different storage times.

Ideas for the next tournaments:
- More informations at Steam group 'Dystopia Pickup Games' chat about the match-times!!
- Question to the community before, if someone can create a nice video after the tournament!
- - Tell all player before, to record there own .dem's, and record also STV .dem's!
- Tell the date and show the tournament table at the stream.
- Create little background videos (60 seconds) maybe about maps, mapper, eastereggs, hints...
- Bets with dys_coins on Twitch like at 2021 and 2022, it's a funny interactive extra...
- Map-pool: ALL existing maps can be chosen!
- Random generator decides next map on the previous game day.
- Louder in-game sound for more intense excitement during the stream.
- Special guest at the casts 2 (+1): Developer, mapper, former tournament organizers...
- Implement Phistball round for choose next map or as a side event.

36 - Server sounds '

Here you find information about server sounds:
On my server there are several extra sounds.
The name of my server is "Sewertemple of the hidden Cybermonks".
I have the first and only server at the moment, with a bunch of extra sounds. ^^

How to disable / deactivate the sounds:
Write "soundsoff" or "soundson" for deactivate or activate the sounds.

How to use the sounds correctly:
- Don't use the sounds quickly several times in a row.
- Don't put the sounds on a key to play them often.
  It is annoying & a game event only happens once and not 5 times in a row in one second.
- Use the sounds only rarely so that it does not disturb or others feel harassed.
- It should only be as an occasional gift, and to have a greater playing experience... :)

What to do when someone harasses with the sounds?
- Do not be the one who is the troublemaker.
- Don't put yourself on the same low level and try to annoy him on the same way.
- Everyone should call the player by name and tell him that we does not like it.
  - Every player should tell it to him, the more the better.
  - We have to defend ourselves together, help and support.
  - We want to continue having fun together.
  - Maybe he doesn't know that he's bothering us.
  - Otherwise he will probably continue.
Let's treat troublemakers kindly too, maybe he really likes playing the game.

In the menu mask you have the possibility to deactivate the downloads of sounds:
- Options
  - Tab "Multiplayer"
    - Lower left "When a game server tries to download custom content to your computer"
      - Allow all custom files from server
      - Do not download custom sounds
      - Only allow map files
      - Do not download any custom files
Ths is the default path on your computer:
  C:\... ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dystopia\dystopia\download\sound\sewertemple

05 - Console & chat commands

Commands for console, for yourself:

- "snd_restart": Deletes tones in a continuous loop. (Like spider grenade sound)
- "net_graph 3" (in console) activates Netgraph, "net_graph 0" deactivates it.
- "maps *" (with spaces & asterisk) Shows all maps on your computer.

The paths in which the maps are located on your (english) computer by default are:

(I can't really say anything about this, because I don't have a own server.)

If you want to know something about the topic,
just ask an admin from a server (see admins above).
(I'm friends with some admins, you can contact me about it)

From my point of view, is a good server, if:
- Admin is friendly and approachable...
- Admin actively takes care of the server...
- Mods it for a better gaming experience...
- Has all the maps on it that exist...
- Is user friendly...

There is also a group for server admins called "Dystopia Server Admins", look at chapter groups.

Maybe the hall of fame will helps:
- to find old forgotten player/buddys...
- to give inspiration for new spraylogos...
- to remember good times...

It can be, that I eventually ask you
for taking a screenshotting with you and your spraylogo... ;)
otherwise you can also write to me...

Process when I take screenshots:
- Spraylogo must be sprayed in a well-lit area.
- One picture with you and your spray, and one only with your spray close-up.
- Stand next to your spraylogo.
- When the writing is gone, I go invisible and take photos.
- Sometimes I still adjust the crosshair color.
- We can try different poses... ^^
- A hint, just look how the other pictures looks like... ;)

14 - Record a ingame video

>> UNDER CONSTRUCTION!! <<

Here you will find some information for recording videos

Main informations 1:
- Dystopia (All Source games) has a internal ingame recording function!
- While you're ingame, go to the console and write the different commands (see below).
- The files are named: .dem
- .dem is NOT a video format!!
- .dem records only the POSITIONS from players/bullets ON the map, not a "view"!!
- It only register the X/Y/Z coordinates (grid-points) inside the map as digits.
- Thats why you CAN'T VIEW it in a normal video player!!
- You can view the video only, when you have open the Dystopia main menu.
- Thats why you need a recording tool to record your screen when you play the .dem!
- The path to the files are: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dystopia\dystopia
- But you have UNBELIEVABLE capabilities to edit!!
- You can follow the bullets/rockets etc... xD
- You can jump to ALL positions/players/places of every SECOND!!
- But mind, it is elaborate to create a good .dem video.
- In this video from Tornimorko you can see the possibilities: Dystopia frag compilation .

Main informations 2:
- It gives 2 different types of .dem files. (Thanks Bauxite!)
- .dem files from clients and .dem files from SourceTV. (STV)
- Client video files are files that you recorded to your own computer.
You can watch the video only from the perspective of your own view.
- SourceTV video files are files that were recorded by the server itself.
The administrator of a server must have previously installed it himself.
The administrator can then make the video files available...
With SourceTV video files you can manually view the perspective of EACH individual player. :D
Ask your server admin if he has installed SourceTV and where you can download the files. ;D
You can usually recognize SourceTV if the name is at the bottom of spectators...
The administrator can also change the name, such as "Shoppingcart Heavy TV" etc...

How to watch the .dem video:
(Files are under: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dystopia\dystopia)
- Start Dystopia and open the console window at main menu.
(If you dont have a the developer console, look at my FAQ guide for activating)
- Write "playdemo" with the name of the recorded video, Example: "playdemo fun1"
(A video recorded with the name "fun1" will now play)
- Watch a video with a player, type "demoui".

Commands:
- "record test1" (for record a video with the name test1)
- "stop" (for stop the recording)
- "demoui" or press Shift+F2 (for open the player)
- "playdemo test1" (for play a recorded video with the name test1)
- "hidepanel specmenu" (to get FREE VIEW!) (for SourceTV .dem's) (thanks Bauxite)
                              (AND remove the blue bar)                  (and thanks trend)
- "showpanel specmenu" (to get the blue bar back)

How to navigate free flight inside a client .dem video:
- Hold left mouse + WASD

How you can follow the perspective of different players (only with SourceTV .dem's):
- Settings are on the lower blue bar.
- At the right side you can select the view-settings.
- At the middle you can select the different players.
(I don't know how to disable the blue bar, sorry)
(And I don't know how to disable the frames of the player, sorry)

If you have problems watching a SourceTV .dem video, try this:
- Open the player with demoui.
- Start the .dem file, and don't click on the blue bar settings until the players are spawned.
- Move speed slider from 100% to 500% until the player spawn.
- Close the player by clicking the X.
- Then you can select "First person view" and use arrows to switch players.

How do you set up SourceTV as admin on your server:
- SourceTV doesn't need to be installed, you already have it.
- Open your cfg file and just change to "tv_enable 1".
- Now you have a bot (aka sourcetv bot) that will record the demos to your server storage.

There are little fun things you can do,
when you are with too few people on a map,
and it is not worth playing normally...
Here are some of Them:
(You always need a heavy for this)

Rocket hula hoops:
Aim past the enemy with the rocket launcher's red marker dot.
Fire the missile in primary fire mode.
When the rocket is exactly in line with the enemy, aim the marker dot at the opponent.
The rocket now tries to hit the object immediately,
but can't hit it because it's on the same level.
The rocket changes course to hit it.
But it will never hit because the radius is too big to steer the rocket to the target.
The rocket orbits the target in its smallest radius of movement.
A rocket hula hoops has been created. ^^
(I have first seen this intentionally summoned from Tope, from 13.03.2016)
(Of course, old players like me know rockets circles from the first games ever,
but I never bothered how it came about, it always happened by accident.) ^^

23 - Mapping

This is a small chapter on the subject mapping.
I haven't mapped for over 15 years.
So this information is amateurish to look at.
But I'm trying as best I can.
(If I say something wrong, please correct me)

Before you start thinking about it, think:
- MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: Do you have enough time to build a map!?
- - Making a map takes time, but making a map for Dystopia takes a lot more time!!
- - Do I have the will to create a map until the finished publication!??
- Do I know what to look out for to create a good map!?
- - Do I know all what needs to be considered, to create a map for the game dystopia!?
- - How many sidewalks must be available for which mission object!?
- - Which time periods are to be observed for which mapping area!?
- - Is my map idea good enough!?

And again:
Do I have the will to create a map until the finished publication!??
There are enough unfinished maps on Dystopia...

28 - What ask to unknown player

When you found someone unknown alone on a server:

This chain of questions and answers has evolved through my own experience,
crystallized from conversations with new players,
because the questions kept repeating themselves.
(But the most of them just want only fight... hehehe) ^^

Of course, it is important not to press them, so they don't feel harassed and scared off...
If the mood is there, you can talk relaxed with them... ^^
Sometimes they ask a few things of their own accord...

The MOST important rule to keep in mind is:
Be friendly, don't insult him, but explain everything to him.
You also like to be treated kindly. ;-)

The player shoots at you:
Don't shoot back.
Show him with a right-left-right-left wave (movement) that you don't shoot back.
(If you jump, the most of them also jump) hahaha ^^

The player don't answer:
(Maybe he is new and don't know the keys to answer)
- Tell him the key for communication.
- - 'Chat message' (global): Y / z. (different between country layouts) (Team message: U)
- - 'Use voice communication': F
(Maybe he dont speak your language / english)
- Ask for his mother tongue: Russian, spanish, german, asian language.

You can ask him if he's playing dystopia for the first time or if he's a returnee?

A nice gesture is always a greeting, tell him:
WELCOME TO DYSTOPIA!! ^^
(I think that's important because it creates a positive basis,)
(and in a regularity, they say thank you very kindly for this attention.) :-)

The player behaves haphazard:
Ask him if he played the tutorial at the main menu!?

The player don't know how to use the implants, like decking:
- Tell him the keys for activate the implants: F1, F2, F3,...
- Also for deck-out (some of them wait until energy is empty ^^).
- And must click on the button when the button is hacked free.

Tell him also:
- M (menu), is for change the class, weapon and implants...
- K (kill), is for respawn (some of them left and rejoin the server to make changes). ^^

And after a time and if the mood is relaxed, you can show him the map/maps,
show him the secondary weapon functions,
tell him how he can make mapchange, and have much fun playing! ^^

27 - How to increase player count

This is one of the most important questions

Here are some of my ideas:

Things that can do Developers:

- Implement a server working bot-system to hold new players.
That they get to know the game better and find joy in it.
That we have a better chance to see them, and inform them about our playtimes.

Only suggestions:

- Annual events for:
A Dystopia 'Birthday game'. (Aim for highest player count of the year!)
A Dystopia 'Tournament'. (Maybe fanbased tournaments)
A Dystopia 'Play with the developers day - Puny Human'.
A Dystopia 'Play with the developers day - Team Dystopia'.
A Dystopia 'Best video of the year' competition.
A Dystopia 'Who is still alive - Reunion day'. <--- uuuuh yea!! (my idea) ^^
A Dystopia 'Group-photo day' whole community posing with the devs for screenshots.
A Dystopia '3party maps of the year competition'. (go and finish/polish a/your old 3party map)
A Dystopia 'Vote one map that should get a design update'. \o/
A Dystopia 'Vote one map that should get a map secret'. \o/
A Dystopia 'Anniversary-shirt on eBay selling'. (Very nice to wear at Gamescom, E3 etc) ^^
(These are all just ideas and suggestions)

- Contact small / medium / big Youtuber/Twitcher etc. they do letsplays.
(With the hint, that the community is small and has certain playing times,)
(why we are looking for more players.)

- Run a commercial during the Halftime-break at Super Bowl. (Maybe my best idea) xD

- Old media: Computer magazines.

Things that can do everyone:

- Inform other player about the "Dystopia Pickup Games" group and "Chat"!

Are you a Dystopia veteran?
- Contact your old Dystopian buddys from your friendlist.
- Ask them if the feel like playing again on an saturday game. ;-)

Are you a new player?
- Play a saturday with us, and when you like the game, tell it to your friends. :)

Are you a member of a old Dystopia Steam group?
- Talk with the other group members about playtimes and the chat from steam group.

You found a Dystopia Steam group you like and joined it?
- Talk with the other group members about playtimes and the chat from steam group.

Make reviews from similiar games (FPS singleplayer / FPS multiplayer / old style),
and mention Dystopia in it. ;-p

Ask besides in one of your other FPS games, if someone knows Dystopia.
If they are interested, then ask if they want to play a Saturday game.

For example, similar is:
Natural Selection, Neo Tokio, Counter Strike 1.6, Golden Eye Source, Quake, Half Life,
Sven Co-Op, Garry's Mod (It use Dystopia Content), etc.
(PS: I also tell other Dystopia players that Natural Selection is a great game)
(We need to help each other, we have a lot in common in our games)
