剧情：
据预言所说，白霜与白光的时代即将来临，疯狂与耻辱的时代即将来临，世界将会在霜雪中覆灭，一切都将归于微不足道的尘埃。
——按照预言里说的是奇怪的生物会出现在人类世界，而白霜可能是恒星坍塌死亡或被黑洞捕获而带来的毁灭低温，不管是什么生命体都逃不过被毁灭的结局。
承接1代剧情，无上的力量滋生欲望，欲望带来战争。暗夜笼罩大陆，奇迹的光芒将被掩映。17座外星城堡拔地而起，昭示着那个最黑暗的时代。
智械们曾因为不断的觉醒起来，发起了一场野心勃勃的机械革命 ，他们高喊着“机器人永不为奴”的口号联合了地球所有的智械。另一方面还制造了自己的工厂，源源不断地生产同类壮大队伍，企图一举推翻人类统治，建立一个只有机器人的政权世界。
位于美国新墨西哥州的沙漠中的黑山基地，正被终结者智械大军入侵，基地里的科学家们慌不择路逃命，引发基地爆炸发生核串联共振事故。打开了外太空与地球的通道，致使一个来自多维空间帝国的军队，定位到了地球的存在。
此时世界各地因核串联共振现象，又出现了无数的传送门风暴，大量异世界生物入侵地球。而距离黑山事件仅过去了几天，联合帝国就趁着世界各国被智械和异生物入侵，而搞得焦头烂额之际趁机对地球发动了入侵。
刹那间，世界各地的城市中心突然出现了一座座高大怪异的外星城堡，大量外星混血军队便从这些城堡中蜂拥而出。世界各国都对此次侵略做出了抵抗，但面对掌握着先进科技的联合军源源不断的进攻。
仅仅7个小时，世界各国的武装力量便纷纷土崩瓦解，无可奈何之下世界各国发起投降。至此地球就彻底落入了联合帝国之手，战争完成入侵后主力部队便撤离了地球，只留下了小部分极为简单的军事力量负责对地球进行管理。
比如三角机甲以及联合军炮艇这些半生物战斗单位，都是被联合帝国在其他宇宙奴役改造而来的半生物机械单位，而诺瓦矿场监狱守卫和精英士兵这些形似人类的步兵单位，则是联合军直接在地球上就地取材将人类进行生物合成技术改造而来的士兵，他们用最低的成本换取了最大的收益。
他们首先将人类的城市重新命名为1号城、2号城等，17号城被设立为首都，联合军的大本营就在这里。为了集中人类的生存据点，联合军在各大城市周围布置了防线，不准市民出城，也防止异生物侵入城市，外界则任凭异生物泛滥。这样，大多数人都主动选择了到城市居住，外界则成了异生物与智械的空间。
20年过去，联合帝国统治地球后只作为一个单纯的资源采集点，他们在各个城市的中心留下一座城堡和一支简单的装甲核心部队来对地球进行监管，并且他们留在地球上的科技技术比较简单，城市之间还是依靠战前人类修建的铁路运输系统来进行物资输送。联合帝国解读了人类的科技后，结合他们的科技技术而针对地球的铁路系统，研制出了更快速高效的剃刀式火车头，并利用各种大型装置将地球上所采集到的资源运送往联合帝国所在位面。
联合军还设置了“生殖抑制力场”，使得人类无法生育，剥夺生育权，让人类慢慢的灭绝；他们在人类的饮用水中加入了某种特殊物质，让人类的记忆逐渐消退，有利于人类服从联合军；同时，人类的居住地必须由联合军决定，被来回不断地迁徙，无法定居；反抗联合军的人，被捕后将改造为没有意识的苦力，为联合军服务；联合军通过各种媒体向人类灌输顺从的思想。
为了最大限度的吸收人类成员，联合军还组建了一个警察组织——国民护卫队，他们全由人类中的叛徒组成，参与者可以得到更好的食物，满足性的需求。这样，大量人类都加入了国民护卫队，为联合军效力，国民护卫队成了联合军施行恐怖镇压的有效手段。
一系列统治措施是为了制造一个超级传送门，进而引诱宇宙深处的其中一位邪神踏入。它将乘坐方舟穿越无边的宇宙降临人间，当这位更高维度的巨型不明生物降临，整个世界都将成为邪神和它仆从们的饕餮盛宴。同时也会施与祭拜它的信徒们一份厚礼，那就是变成像它一样不可名状的生物，得到常人无法想象的未来生物进化。
帝国联合军窥伺着方舟里的一个类正方体——方舟核心，它是由宇宙无限法则幻化而成的，一面是蔚蓝创造之力，一面是猩红毁灭之力，直通终极力量的泉源。若是能成功从邪神手中强夺过来，将为联合帝国提供巨额的战力提升，从而扩张统治并侵略更多多维空间。
这项超越了认知的帝国联合军计划，是由战后残余人类巧用声东击西，引开大部分敌军后派出的一位哑巴物理学家，配合内应千辛万苦潜入17号城市首都会议室，所战略性取得的敌军密报传以大家。同时还与内应偷出了部分帝国超级士兵基因，

回到营地研究改良将其注入残余幸存者，创造了那些过去不曾敢想的超级新人类。
另一边，残余的智械军团都因跟联合军交战而不知去向，这批超级新人类唯有出发前往寻找他们。找到并放下过去与智械间的仇恨矛盾，重归于好组成反抗军来向首都出发起义，这样才能有希望摧毁掉这个超级传送门。
这个星球的文明，是生存抑或是毁灭？前路风云变幻，但抵挡不了他们前进的脚步。。
