[WOTC] Recover Fallen Hero

Description
Overview
A pretty straight forward mod: it introduces a new Covert Action that allows you to retrieve the corpse of a fallen soldier (if the body was not recovered), so that you can retrieve the gears that you have lost (this is secondary of course, what's important is we get them back for proper burial).
Which dead soldier to be retrieved is completely random.

Can I enable this mid campaign?
Yea should be fine. Removing mid campaign may break things though.

What about mod compatibility?
Should be compatible with almost anything. If you see any issues, please let me know.

  • Covert Infiltration - Compatible.
  • LWOTC - Apologies, this mod was not tested with LWOTC.
  • [WotC] Infirmaria Ex Mortis - I suggest using this mod with xAllowResWithoutBody = false. Once the body is retrieved with CA from this mod, you should be able to resurrect the soldier.

What about Sparks?
Covert Action will not trigger for Sparks. Many other mods are already handling Sparks and its a lot of effort (and a minefield) for compatibility.

What's in the configuration files?
By default, the mod will spawn Covert Actions for any dead soldier regardless of the items on them when they die. But if you prefer to only get Covert Actions to retrieve corpses having specific items, you can configure it that way. I left some samples in XComRIFF.ini (actually the entire Chosen weapons and Alien Hunter weapons are there, you just need to uncomment them i.e. remove "; " at the beginning of each line).
Required faction influence of the covert action can be changed as well.

Requirements
All required mods are required.

Credits
  • SOPHIA for writing the narratives for the covert actions.
  • RustyDios for the new Covert Action images.
  • Some codes were inspired by Covert Infiltration though will work without it.
  • Folks over at MEME Discord who has always welcome my mod ideas!
  • All modders from XCOM 2 Modding Discord!

It appears its not working with LwotC unless i need to gain more influence with the factions. Im before step 1 of hunting Chosen base.

Just u know, you can add your own "XComInfirmariaExMortis.ini" to this mod in which you set "xAllowResWithoutBody = false". Have a nice day.

Yea armor and weapons are individually built throughout its tiers. This is true with Prototype Armoury (part of Strategy Overhaul). But not medkits and grenades (from the top of my head, not sure what else). Some items are left the way they are.

@TeslaRage Yes, I had researched nanomedkits. Thanks for your quick answer. I wondered since it was clear that armor and weapons were not that way.

Have you done the Proving Ground project to upgrade medkits to nanomedkits? If you have, then its expected.

The way that project works is; the game searches through all medkits in the game and upgrades them to nanomedkits. I could probably do something so that it remains as medkits but eh, this behavior is fine with me.

To add, Strategy Overhaul does not change that PG project behavior.

@TeslaRage I believe I have found an unexpected result using this mod. I had a few soldiers die that had medkits. When I recovered their remains I got back nanomedkits. I am using the Strategy Overhaul mods so this was unexpected.

@TeslaRage I remember vividly reading it in the mod description but couldn't find it this time. Thanks a ton!!

If you have Mechatronic Warfare, you can rebuild Spark using Spark's datacore in Proving Ground.

I'm sorry to be asking here, but I don't know where else. The mod description mentions that plenty of mods deal with sparks, there was one with a covert mission to rescue the spark core to be rebuilt. Does anyone know which mod was it?
