"Bombardier" Serigne Ousmane Dia

Senegalese wrestling champion and KSW super-heavyweight fighter. Lutte senegalaise is unique in that it is wrestling with striking, although the matches you can find with Bombardier focus on throws and ring outs, as you would expect from a 6'6", 330 pound competitor. Serigne won his two championships in 2002 and 2014 and moved to mixed martial arts as a 42-year old rookie in 2018, fighting fellow Senegalese wrestling super heavyweight Amadou Konez, who fights under the name Rocky Balboa, on a card in Switzerland.

Bombardier won the fight in about 80 seconds with a takedown and punches, and two years later he did the same to British fighter Daniel Podmore in 2020 on a card in England. In early 2021, Serigne was signed to Poland's KSW to fight the promotion's top star, strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski. The fight was originally scheduled for March 2021, but a bout of appendicitis the day of the fight took Bombardier out of action. KSW tried to make a match with Bombardier against K-1 star Jerom Le Banner, which ultimately fell through.

Bombardier vs. Pudzianowski was remade for KSW 64 on October 23, 2021, and Bombardier was knocked out cold in eighteen seconds. Serigne came in swinging, but a sequence of leg kicks and a counter right was enough to catch Bombardier and put him out cold, to the point that Serigne did not know what was happening during the post-fight ceremony. Serigne says he is contracted to KSW for more than one fight, and nobody loves the carny approach to MMA more than KSW. I fully expect to see him standing across the cage from some bodybuilder before this time next year. Bombardier has finished both of his MMA victories.
