Description
Smokeleaf Lite
is a mod aimed at changing smokeleaf to be less deadly, and less stereotypical, while also adding a small production chain. Think of it as a Smoke Industry Lite, if you will, or lite as in it doesn't kill you anymore.

GENERAL
I've never been happy with Rimworld's take on Smokeleaf, my goal was to add as little as possible but still come to an effective outcome; most importantly lowering the reprocussions of smokeleaf while also adding more versatility. The mod itself is in it's *final* form and should provide alternate solutions to several early game situations as well as a safer more reliable way to relieve your colony's stress.

The main changes were made to the Hediffs of Smokeleaf. Smokeleaf no longer effects consciousness but the stats in which consciousness directly effects. Being "high" is also broken into 3 stages: buzzed, high, and stoned; while also reducing the overall hunger need, but increasing eating speed.

The only way to currently die from smokeleaf is sleeping through malnutrition or go through withdrawal with extremely low consciousness. (other things involved) Your chances of getting carcinoma have been completely removed and replaced with Asthma. In place of Asthma is the new hediff: Pneumonitis. It sounds bad but it could be equated to a bad sore throat and should be treatable with medicine.

Outside of consuming smokeleaf I have also added a recipe for hemp cloth, herbal medicine, chemfuel, and hash.
Hemp cloth is slightly more durable and more insulative than regular cloth but isn't as beautiful or as good at letting heat escape.
The herbal medicine recipe was added as an alternative to healroot. The recipe itself uses cloth, from hemp or cotton, to bind it together in a means of balance.
Chemfuel refining from straight smokeleaf, I think it equates to a slightly better yield than you would get from straight smokeleaf in the vanilla game, I have tweaked it since my original math though so it may not line up exactly.
Lastly, hash is the hard version of smokeleaf, but mainly should be used for trade. I took inspiration from Kenshi.

FAQ
Q: Why the changes?
A: I use the real world comparison daily for pain and I haven't died yet.

Q: Does this mean I can have huge smokeleaf circles that last for days without fear of my pawns smoking themselves to death?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this mod complete?
A: Content wise more than likely. Balance wise. No.
Mainly I wanted to add a few more uses for smokeleaf outside of joints, maybe take some of the demonization away.

Q: Save game compatible?
A: I think so

Q: Is this CE compatible?
A: I don't suggest smoking and running into gunfire. Though if I was running into gunfire I'd wanna be hella high.

COMPATIBILTY
This was made to touch as little as possible, I honestly didn't even want to make the research. So it should be compatible with anything that doesn't mess with smokeleaf. It should be safe(?) to add to existing games. Removing may be tricky as it does add a drug. I'll work on a toggle for it but I only know how to make VFE toggles .
Incompatible:
Other smokeleaf mods probably. You might be able to piece them together but I dunno.

I have the real world knowledge but that doesn't mean I know how to code it.
I've also never used drugs in my playthroughs so I barely know how they work. Sad, I've been playing since alpha.

@Enlonwhite While moderation is key with everything, as someone who has been chemically addicted to a prescription my doctor gave me for chronic pain and switching to 'smoke leaf' later in life with their direction, I've never once felt the -need- to imbibe chemically after almost a decade of use while it took less than 3 months for an opiate to do the same thing. While it's possible to feel drowsy with some forms of 'smoke leaf' others will make your heart and mind race. Tolerance is appropriate as the more heavily you use the drug, the more you need to use for the same effect but this can be compensated by changing to a new 'strain' or resetting from non-use. And while some strains will make you feel 'munchy' it's not all strains.

So yeah your mod is great, I would love to use it. But I do feel alot of users of similar drugs dont realize exactly how far it can affect them, especially if more than a light dose of use.

I may have never done the real world equivalent of Rim-worlds smokeleaf. But I have been in many places where something like it was in use, with many people.
I agree that too many put a bad spin on our real world equivalent, and it truely isnt as bad as people say.

However, Lose of Consciousness (5-10%) in game would definitely fit from what I have seen.
which you do state that conditions already apply something like that indirectly.
That "high" is the reason why I always was the Driver when with friends, I kept them safe as I was never influenced, nor drunk. I respected their choice as they mine, plus free car rides for them.
I know people who use our real life similar drug would argue otherwise to the level of being Influenced by the drug.
However, after a second joint nothing would convince me of "no real affect ". Far too much experience has shown me differently, and some even could not respond quickly. Thank god I was sober for those nearly bad events.

Ohh yeah. I see what everyone means. I uh. I have no clue how genes work. I looked and I have no idea. But that's pretty broken. I kept meaning to look but I got side tracked. I'll try and put more time into a fix.
