[WOTC] Proficiency Class Plugin: Assault Technical

Description
Mod Information:

For clarification this is a new class that exists alongside the Assault Infantry, not a replacement.

The original Proficiency Classes as well as the LW2 Secondary weapons mods are required.

This mod is a small band-aid for a minor issue when using Shiremct's glorious class mod, which is that the LW2 Gauntlet secondary weapon is not used by any class and thus just sits there being wasted inventory.

This new class mod is what I'll call a variant of the Assault Infantry, where the Stormtrooper and Bastion trees are intact, but the Melee focus Vanguard tree is replaced with the Technical's Fireman tree which is all based on using the flamethrower part of the Gauntlet which replaces the melee weapons of the Infantry.

This also adds the Technical's Fire and Steel ability as a potential random Xcom tree perk for this class, otherwise it is the same as the Assault Infantries selection.

For a description of the Technical abilities, I will refer to this link from UFOpaedia for the gist of their functionality. https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Technical_(LW2)

While I was originally going to have this mod disable the rocket launcher function of the Gauntlet, for the actual release didn't want to mess with it, so the basic rocket launcher feature of the weapon is there but none of the Technical class perks related to it are included.

While one doesn't have the melee abilities any more, the Flamethrower is similarly a close range-ish weapon although it has the benefit of potentially hitting multiple targets which also synergizes well with the remaining two Assault Infantry tree's such as Run and Gun, this class also gives another shredding opportunity with one of the later perks in the tree as well as a one use rocket launcher which is always a plus.

Compatibility:
The class should benefit from the Assault Infantries GTS upgrade as well as that classes passive Proficiency skill rank upgrades.

The Primary weapons slot has minor support for the Chemthrower weapons class, using Iridar's Immolator Overhaul plus Spark Arsenal gives them more utility when using the weapon.

The class should also be safe to install mid-campaign if one is already running the Proficiency classes.

If bugs do arise related to this mod specifically then let me know and I'll try to address them if possible

Bugs:
While the Assault Infantry GTS unlocks do apply to this class, the Assault Technical will not unlock them if you meet the rank requirements before the Infantry, but the GTS stuff will unlock for purchase and apply once the Infantry is the correct rank.

There are other Spark mods out there, I won't be making anything for them or Psi Ops since there are already many more popular mods for them that can work with Proficiency just fine.

I personally use Mechatronic stuff.

Will you ever make something for the SPARK? I'd feel dumb if you already have, lol.

For those curious, I'm not updating the class tree to reflect Shire's recent update to the Assault Infantry (switching some skills around in the tree) by their suggestion.

This makes it so that the Assault Technical has a slightly more distinct tree in comparison, since functionality on any skills were not changed an update is not required.

Ah sorry, was just making a clarification for anyone else who reads the comment section here.

It's been forever since I used the LW2 classes even for WOTC so I don't recall.

Yeah, I get that. I'm not saying you did anything wrong or even that this a bug at all. Maybe the gauntlet is supposed to work that way. I'm just a bit confused about the flamethrower cover mechanics atm. Makes it hard to predict what you can do in game

I didn't edit the Gauntlet or any abilities in this case.

Just made a class that used already existing perks, I didn't want to muck up how anything worked.

Hence me not removing the rocket launcher functionality of the Gauntlet in the end.

This is may be more a question about the gauntlet weapon, but is it intended that it shoots through high cover? The way I remember it vanilla flamethrowers are blocked even by low cover.

I have the "Unblockable Flamethrowers" mod, but that doesn't even affect high cover from what I understand. I think it's also coded in a way that it only works with vanilla weapons.

Nope, outside of bug fixes that's that.

It's intended to be a variant just so the Gauntlet sees some actual use, intended to be here until somebody releases something better.

I'm not particularly good at building original classes which is why I go with what already works, so in this case I took a class that already works and switched out the close range melee tree with a close range Flamethrower tree that already worked.

Do you plan on eventually making this an unique class?

Thanks for the clarification.. that's what I thought of at first.
