Description
Concept: Back before CPU was officially released, there was a leaked early concept for CPU that had some players testing the idea of using CV modules inserted into their base to overcome CPU limitations. For me, that is where the idea of a CV module first began. We would later get CV to CV docking, bringing the idea of a CV module to dock to core CV to a whole new group of players. When I participated in a discussion on modular SV, this would eventually lead to me developing my own standard for CV modules. I was briefly tempted to make the CV modules to the same 7 block height that I was standardizing for my SV modules, but in reality the 7 block height for the SV is to give a small gap for easy navigation and docking in the 2 block height space of a CV/BA blueprint. This led to me choosing a multiple 2 blocks in height for the module. I kept a direct translation of the width and depth because this would give me the equivalent ease of parking in some of the same spaces where I could park the SV modules, such as the Raven. While other parking spaces would later be drafted for more exacting fits with the M1 modules, such as the bays in the Frontier Perch BA.

Width x Height x Depth
—----------------------------
M1 = 7 x 6 x 19 blocks

Center of each side there are two doors. Lower door for ground access. The upper door is to be aligned with the outer limit of the width, just above mid-height, to form a virtual airtight seal with compatible docking solutions.

The M1 is the equivalent of four 1U containers wide, three 1U containers high, and four 1U containers deep. As such, you could consider the M1 series to be 48U containers.

Blueprints in this collection will either be the compatible modules or blueprints designed to work with them. While the lower door is stated as ground access, many of my compatible blueprints will include access to this lower door as well. It just won’t be an airtight access point. For example, the Frontier Perch has a lower set of doors half down the length of the bays that provide access to what is typically the mechanical lower section of the M1 modules.

Should someone choose to create a compatible CV module, please let me know. I would gladly include it in this collection. I also have a collection for “CV Modules [By Others] Not M1”, stuff that works with some of M1 supporting blueprints that follow a different module standard, often that just happens to fit and work somehow.

Lore: With the development of the Raven CV, the M1 series of modules were released early. These had been planned for use with future modular CVs and bases. The Frontier Perch was near completion in its development and was used through lease options to push the use of the M1 modules produced under the various brands under MBI in effort to improve market acceptance. While MBI would continue to participate in forums to discuss standardization in the marketplace, like many other corporations in the business, MBI pushed forward with their own interpretation as it appeared that universal standards would not be forthcoming while many civilizations pushed whatever they had adopted instead of coming to a useful consensus.
