Realistic Rooms Rewritten

Description
For 1.5, 1.4 and 1.3

Lower your room space requirements!

Safe to add mid-save.

1.3 version requires HugsLib

What is this?
This mod is a complete rewrite of the original Realistic Rooms mod by Dragon Fist Ent (here) and it's updated version by Scherub (here).

The original mod uses outdated methods which cause incompatibilities with other mods.

This mod is also FULLY CONFIGURABLE from the in game settings menu.

What does it do?
This mod lowers the required space for each tier of room size (cramped, rather tight, etc.).

The table below shows the comparison between vanilla and this mods default values, along with the values from the original Realistic Rooms mod.

IMPORTANT! These values are not the number of tiles in a room, the formula the game uses for this is ([numOfWalkableTiles] * 1.4) + ([numOfOccupiedTiles] * 0.5)
Meaning that an empty 4x4 room will actually score 22.4 on space.

The default values are somwhere between the original mod and it's lite version. I find these to be more balanced. If you like you can change the values in the config menu to whatever you prefer. I do recommend using x.5 values for rounding reasons explained at the bottom.

I have also included a feature from the original mod which lowers the beauty impact of dirt and sand dropped inside a room.
Because a bit of dirt on the floor doesn't make the room uninhabitable.

QA
Q: Why use this mod instead of this one instead?
A:That mod doesn't support decimal values. That's literally it.
Mod no longer updated.

Q:Why are all the default values .5
A: Game rounds up on the GUI. Without the .5 the number shown in-game would not match directly with the tiers.

COMPATIBLE WITH 1.5
REQUIRES HUGSLIB FOR 1.3

Rather tight value is off. The defaults are actually 6.5 not 7.5

@SaMaHaJoGu Did you accidentally turn off the room display in the bottom right corner, where all the buttons are? I've done that before without noticing (I think there is a hotkey, but I don't know what it is) and then wondered why nothing was showing up.

I recently added this mod to lower the size needs for a room, but it appears to have broken the vanilla room sense? Like when I hover over a room, it doesn’t tell me whose room it is and what the impressiveness rating for the room is.

Thnaks for making this! Love rimworld but room sizes are one thing that have never made sense to me, struggling to survive a savage world and friends dying all around you yet wanting a penthouse each :steammocking:

haha I think you have surpassed my original mod in numbers, at least in current downloads. though am glad someone else took it up.

@hysteria
I'm not sure if it's actually the case but I did some testing. changing the values in the mod options DOES work, but it isnt always shown when you check the stats of a room, Since I dont play in english, I suspect an error in traduction. when I tweak the value in extreme ways, pawns will show the "quite spacious" mood modifier even in a 3*3 room, despite the stat displayed being "rather tight".

Awesome mod. Any chance you could add the functionality from Variable Room Sizes? Owlchemist isn't updating it anymore and I think its a functionality that has been overlooked that makes a lot of sense to have :)

@hysteria123 I did reply to you before, I can't replicate the issue. The config menu works fine for me, and seems to work fine for others too. Try testing this mod on it's own to see if it's actually a conflict issue.

If you like you can change the values in the config menu to whatever you prefer. ← Does not work.
