Realistic Rooms Rewritten

Description
Lower your room space requirements!

Safe to add mid-save.

Requires HugsLib

What is this?
This mod is a complete rewrite of the original Realistic Rooms mod by Dragon Fist Ent (here) and it's updated version by Scherub (here).

The original mod uses outdated methods which cause incompatibilities with other mods.

This mod is also FULLY CONFIGURABLE from the in game settings menu.

What does it do?
This mod lowers the required space for each tier of room size (cramped, rather tight, etc.). The table below shows the comparison between vanilla and this mods default values.

Vanilla
Mod
Rather Tight
12.5
7.5
Average-Sized
29
16.5
SW Spacious
55
28.5
Quite Spacious
70
49.5
Very Spacious
130
84.5
EX Spacious
349.5
174.5

IMPORTANT! This is not the number of tiles in a room, the formula the game uses for this is [numOfWalkableTiles] * 1.4 + [numOfOccupiedTiles] * 0.5
Meaning that an empty 4x4 room will actually score 22.4 on space.

I have also included a feature from the original mod which lowers the beauty impact of dirt and sand dropped inside a room.
Because a bit of dirt on the floor doesn't make the room uninhabitable.

In the future I might update this with a config menu so you can set what values you wish but for right now I will leave it as is.

QA
Q: Why use this mod instead of this one instead?
A:That mod doesn't support decimal values. That's literally it.

Q:Why are all the default values .5
A: Game rounds up on the GUI. Without the .5 the number shown in-game would not match directly with the tiers.

ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH 1.3
REQUIRES HUGSLIB

The settings seem to not be applied when restarting the game.
I tried it without any mods except for the DLCs, Harmony and HugsLib and it still happens.

Settings (in ModSettings.xml) are:
<RealisticRoomsRewritten>
<minSpaceRatherTight>5.5</minSpaceRatherTight>
<minSpaceAverageSized>8.5</minSpaceAverageSized>
<minSpaceSomewhatSpacious>24.5</minSpaceSomewhatSpacious>
</RealisticRoomsRewritten>

When I load into the game, rooms with a "size" of 15 always revert back to being "Rather tight" (with the Tunneler perk) instead of "Average sized", etc.

Hmmm, it does not change impressiveness score, I think... Time for tinkering then.

Fair enough. I can try poking around, though my modlist is long enough that it could be almost anything.

@Nianor Skywolf Don't think this mod will affect anything to do with room detection, it just changes the threshold for the different space stages. It also lowers the impact of filth on room beauty, but that shouldn't affect anything either. Looks like it's probably something else but you could always try disabling this or other mods and see if that fixes the problem.

Question, is it at all possible this mod could cause problems with very large prison "cells" not being counted as rooms properly? When I make my prison too large, first it bumps the filth way up, enough to drop surgery success chances from 111% or so down to 66%, and then if I make it much larger, it stops counting it as a room at all when I select beds. Bigger than that, and newly placed beds will count as colonist beds and will say they aren't enclosed if I try to make them prison beds. I have no idea if it's related to this mod or not, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

@Kongkim, you can do the math backwards in formula put "numOfWalkable" is W and "numOfOccupiedTiles" so

(W * 1.4) + (T * 0.5) = 7.5

I know i could do it for you but id rather teach a man to fish, instead of giving a fish.

@kongkim Read the bit under the table that says 'important'

If the number is not the number of tiles. how many tiles is 7.5 then?

And then theres me literally checked all 5k mods for 1.3

@Squirt yeah, i didn't know about your mod and only went to this one since its the one i remember. You didn't do anything wrong lol

also @Stupid Dumb Lizard YESSS THE WORKSHOP'S SEARCH SYSTEM IS AWFULLLLL

about 90% of actually good mods i come across have almost no subscribers and are from the "most recent" tab, the popular ones are nice, but jesus christ some actual quality is missed over and over because of how bad the search engine is
