Modular Space Station Kit [MSSK] Pack 1

Description
Overview
Introducing the Modular Space Station Kit [MSSK] - Pack One from the Einmann Mining Corporation.

This kit is designed to help you quickly design and prototype your own near-future style Space Stations, Planetary Bases, Asteroid Lairs and Spaceships.

The kit contains a mix of rooms, corridors and interchangeable, functional ‘modules’.

This kit isn't really designed to cover every single situation (though I may do future packs), but to give a time-saving framework for trying out ideas. Instead, customise the pieces to suit your needs, or make your own to fill the gaps.

Example Structures
I built some example structures to show how the kit can be used:

How To Use
  1. Download the pack and copy the whole build into your (creative) game
  2. Separate the pieces from the sprue as you need them
  3. Copy and paste them into the configurations you want
  4. Be sure to add any missing conveyors and lock all the connectors when finished
  5. (Optional) save your creation, then re-build it in survival using a projector

Building Tips
  • To reduce frustration when pasting pieces together, target the two specific blocks you want to join when copying and pasting
  • To avoid unexpected merging between parallel pieces, add a 1-block spacer doorway (dark grey) between each main piece
  • ”Modules” (e.g. solar panels, turrets, refineries etc) are designed to be attached using merge blocks with connectors, so they can be reconfigured or moved between ships in survival. If you don’t want to use them that way, you can of course replace the merge blocks with light armour blocks, and the connectors with conveyors.
  • Don’t like pristine white? I use Meridius_IX / Lucas’ “Color Replacer Blocks - V2" to replace colours and textures in one go.

Designing Your Own pieces
If you want to make (and share) your own pieces that fit in, these are the rules I set for myself:
  • Standard corridors, junctions and small rooms: Keep to within 5x5x5 blocks
  • Terminal pieces: These can be any length, as they’ll stick out into space, but try and keep the width and height to less than 5 blocks so adjacent pieces don’t merge or overlap
  • Connecting doorways: Should be in the middle of each 5x5x5 face, with a conveyor 2 blocks below and facing the same way
  • Rooms and larger pieces with 2 or more entrances: Should ideally be 5x5x(5+(n*6)) - i.e. will fit with the 5-block grid including spacers (example: Power Station is 5x5x11)
  • Modules and Containers: Place the connector in the middle, and a merge block immediately adjacent facing the same way. Templates are included in the kit. See the reference images also.
  • Ships and Docking Bays: Ships should connect with an airlock door at the top, merge block below and connector below that - all facing the same direction. (Some people don’t like merging ships together - if you’re one of those people, then don’t!)

Thanks!
I hope you enjoy using this kit as much as I did making it.

This is Pack One, and if there is demand I can make future packs with any new rooms or modules - just put your ideas in the comments.

It’d also be great to see people’s creations using the kit, or any new compatible pieces you choose to make, so feel free to share them with me and/or tag them [MSSK] if you want others to find them.

Amazing work, Gen. Knowledge!
Is there any chance you can make a DLC-free version?

Hey dude can i post singular modules instead having one big blueprint, having smaller ones to use (if players want to use the projector to create individual modules and not the kit), plus ill be placing the modules in a sole collection, with your permission of course

Since this is Pack 1, is there going to be any other packs to add to this?

Hey, I have just added this kit as a Steam Collection. I can publish it if you don't mind. All credit goes to you.

It would be nice if you could make a PCU optimised version, so that not evryone who wants to play on Keen's Servers has to optimise the Modules themselves.

Hi @Enadiius I don't see why it couldn't be used for multiplayer. As @beragon mentioned just below, the merge blocks can be costly for PCU, but you can replace those with regular light armour blocks in most cases (and replace the connectors with conveyors at the same time).

The kit was designed mainly for designing ships/bases in creative, then blueprinting your chosen design for projecting/welding in SP or MP survival - so just swap out the merge blocks before publishing your blueprint.

@Gen.Knowledge is this usable in private multiplayer at all or only survival?
Beragon Aug 26, 2021 @ 7:19pm
I really really like it, designed two orbital base for my faction with it. It's full of good idea and design. It's not friendly for Keen official server which has a really low PCU count as there is a lot of merge block which are costly.

Hey @Fox I only use one or two "quality of life" mods to be honest, but HMU on Reddit if you want to go through anything - https://www.reddit.com/user/THX_1337
